is the kit just re-drilled factory hubs and rotors or were they blanks ?

Got any pics of them ?

two extra holes drilled and studs fitted to the stock hubs. No need to start with blanks, the original 4 studs remain untouched, just the two extras make up the total of 6.

I have no doubt that what I am about to ask is a stupid question and I am probably missing the point.

Anyway a Subaru is 4 x 140 PCD and a Toyota Landcruiser etc is 6 x 139.7

Now I can't for the life of me see how adding two extra holes to a 4 x 140 PCD gives a 6 x 139.7 PCD.

Can you explain how that works ?

doh sorry I buggered that up royally (was abit hazy on it).

TWO of the original studs remain in their original positions. FOUR extra holes and studs are added.

Here is a complete guide on how it's done with photos and everything.
http://offroadingsubarus.com/6stud_conversion.html

Alex (Keffa) followed this exact guide and used my drillpress to do it to the very hubs which are forsale in this thread.
The metal shavings are still all over my garage floor.

I think I was getting mixed up with the "other" method of fitting 6stud wheels to your Subaru. What you can do is drill TWO extra holes in your 6stud rims to make them fit your 4stud hubs. This works fine, but the 6stud hub conversion is better. :)

ah ok well that makes more sense although after reading that article I can't believe someone was stupid enough to even consider welding a wheel stud on a hub yet alone doing it badly and taking a picture of it and putting it on the internet.

I see later on he tells people not to weld but what he did was ok !! WTF.

I guess metallurgy and safety is optional when modifying things as unimportant as wheels and stuff.

Yeah the welding part isn't required. Altho I don't think it would really cause much of an issue in this case, it's not a 1000hp racecar.

Of course if you were that worried about strength of metals in your car you probably wouldn't be drilling holes in your hubs and fitting wheels/tyres way oversized compaired to the one the manufacture intended :)

yes i redrilled the hubs. Awesome conversion, someone buy the hubs!! very very very cheap considering just the brake pads are worth $160.

And no i didnt weld anything.

I'm actually just about to do a 6 bolt swap and I could use a set that are already done.

Would you sell just the hubs? I'm up in Canada but if your willing to ship I'll pay the shipping. I guess I should mention my cars an 86 or 87. It should be the same style hubs as your 90.

These ran fine on the highway I'm assuming? They didn't vibrate?

i thought that you dont drill the hubs but you knock out 2 studs from your hub bolt on the 6 stud then mark and drill the rim. that how i was told to do it some guy in america is doing it on a my brumby. i think better than drilling you hubs

I definately can't afford shipping on the rims and tires but I could probably buy the rest of the stuff. The rims and tires would be to expensive to ship half way around the world. I'm not sure how much shipping would be on the rest of the stuff but if you would sell everything but the rims and tires I could probably do it.

i think freight will be alot of $$$

one hub alone would weigh 6-7 kgs or 13-15 pounds

and one front part would weigh double that

if you want to organise a courier ill be happy to post it out :)

yeah that's the other way of doing it. not suitable for some rims tho, such as the ones forsale in this kit.
