Brett,
did your mate ever end up bringing over some 15" wheels? I'm pretty sure I saw you advertise 14"'s for him, but not 15".
Has anybody here ever done this to get 15" wheels onto a subaru?

I was wondering....
How would 15" steelies go with road tyres, like 185/55/r15 (not sure if that is the size to give stock roling diameter but you get the idea)
If they would work, i too would be interested
Must be legal
Gannon.

15" wheels will work. The law for QLD is you cannot go over 15mm total diameter of the factory tyre. If we are talking about L Series, that would make for some pretty low profile tyres... something like 205/50R15 or like the one you said Gannon.
Those wheels look re-drilled to me. Not a fan of that whole concept.

Yes. Bluesteel has modified his guards like that Brat (which looks dodgee as hell to me [that Brat, not Bluesteel's rig (which sports 30x950 Copper STTs by the way)]).

the rims on that brat have a 139.7mm x 6 stud pattern, you can use 2 original holes and drill 2 more at 90 degrees, which gives you the 140x4 pattern

Low profile tyres give for better handling in sacrafice of more road noise,.. is this accurate?
Would there be much difference in performance between 14" and 15"?
How easy is it to come by 15" steel rims (ben has em) with the 4x140
Cheers Guys
me confused

Hey guys,
I'm trying to follow this thread but getting lost.
What are the standard L series bubs/wheels 4x100 or 4x140? I have 14" rims with offroad tyres, whould like to get another set of road tyres ona new set of rims. Are there any 15" rims to fit the standard hubs? I believe adapter plates are illegal in NSW, so thats not an option.
Smokey.

There is another thread about this in the board atm (sorry no time to add the link atm) have a look at it... 1 of the issues is that you should not be going more then 1 size over standard rim - Subaru MY/L standard = 13" therefore you can run 14" not problems but 15" could create some issues for you - i did say could. In 10 years of having my 15" rims i have been busted for them once (and that was not recently either).
Just also take note of engine cap. and you ability to move the increased rubber contact patch, also steel 15" vs alloy 15".

Jaffa,
Thanks for the advice. I've got a lift kit and curently running 27" tyres anyway. I'll be running lower profile as the off roaders are quite large anyway, so the diameter should be the same or smaller. I'd like to do this for two reasons. 1, I doo 500 weekly city driving to work and home, and the off roaders are not the best grip in the wet etc.
2, the speedo is wack due to the large tyres, so thinking of lower profile on 15" wheels. That way the car will not look out of place all jacked up (lifted) with silly little 14" wheels and 195/60/14 tyres.
Thats the idea anyway.... I'll see whats available.

In the 15" you will have to go to a 195/55/15, to rty and keep the speedo 'true'
With the correct offset though you can run bigger tyers (i forget what i have atm) but as you said it wacks ya speedo again

I had 15" Simmons on my RX a few years back (Jack Sparrow ended up with this car - where is he? Haven't seen him for a while now)
I ran 195/55/15 for best results. The 195/50/15 were a bit small, IMO.
No mods to body work with standard suspension.

Does anyone know if 195x65x15 tyres will fit under L-series guards (no scrubbing) as standard (no lift)?

Just out of curiousity, what 15" alloys came on the MY?
Also, what will superlights set me back?
Cheers
