Re-drilling rims to 4 stud

Post by MrRocky » Sun Jul 11, 2010 5:16 pm

g'day guys first post on here
Iam wanting some 15" rims for my L series and wish to redrill
some landcruiser sunraisia's to suit.
There is a mod which redrills the subaru hubs to suit but im not to keen on this
and would rather have the rims drilled to suit.
I plan to leave two studs in a subaru hub and bolt it to the cruiser wheel and
just drill out the other two holes, which in principle seems the same as
doing this. http://offroadingsubarus.com/6stud_conversion.html

cheers mick

Has been covered before if you search but just quickly this thread covers it.

Basically watch your offsets and be exact or you will get the wobbles at high speed. Also it will make it really obvious to the cops that they have been drilled. Better off adding extra studs to your hubs.

Sounds extremely expensive.
I've never heard of anybody doing that in this situation, ever.

Might as well go all out and get the Crossbred conversion done for the amount of money this would cost. You'd be keeping it in the subi family, have a huge range of rim choices and you'd have better stopping power too.

Something to consider if you're going to head in this direction...

mmm
yeah i cant say much on price cause dad made up my new hubs for the honda
such a small car cost about 200$ in material and maybe another 200 in labour but yeah for me its free so i cant really say. but im converting them to a datsun 1200 pattern casue we have hundreds of datsun wheels and honda wheels are stupid sizes (sound familiar)

but redrilling hubs isnt a good option is it?? ive never thought so...........

Yep, that way you have the standard liberty/imprezza 5 stud pattern and use pretty much any array of wheels available for them.

I think its around the $500 mark, not cheap but worth it.

no it's over a grand, plus you need to supply your own wrx brakes and front suspension.
It is a suspension, braking, handling upgrade all in one, and fully engineer approved - it's worth it depending on the application.

If your one and only goal is to run larger rims for offroading I'd say your best bet is re-drilling the hubs to 6stud and slapping any old hilux rims on.

And the rest! Definitely worth it. I'm now aiming for this kit as the next big upgrade...
