Guard Modification L Series

Posted: Fri Jan 07, 2011 8:08 pm
Hey guys,

Just bought new tyres for the beast(94 L), size being 8.5/75/14. As a result some guard modification must occur even though i already have a 2 inch lift. I have recently modified the front guard on the front wheels but it looks like i need to modify the rear of the front wheels. Has anyone done this before and what is the best way to go about it. Is it similiar to the front (angle grinder) or do i do it a different way? im worried i may expose to much of the car or electrics or something. Is only on turning that i rub slightly its very close but im thing when i do a bit of 4x4 it will be worse. Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers fellas!!!!

yes done it before.
Don't use a grinder.
Take the guard off.
You need a BIG FBH.
And smash the corner in.
Then you can mod the guard also. I used aviation snips, and one of those
curly snakes used for drawing curves to mark out the curve.
A heat gun is good too soften the paint when it comes to bending the edge.
Putting flares on the guard easily hides any bad work.
Good luck.
