94 WRX to 97 N/A impreza

Post by Avidus » Fri Jun 03, 2011 8:11 pm

Im looking at buying new brakes/disks for my impreza
Ive found from from a 94 WRX, although i dont know if they are better/worse or what.

as my impreza has drums on the rear wheels, i was curious, does the WRX also have drums?

anything else i should know about brakes?

Thanks

Front WRX brakes are 2 pot & all WRX's have rear discs, they will be better but I seriously doubt you'd notice the difference unless you were to track the car.

Why upgrade?

New rotors, fresh brake fluid, and quality pads will be upgrade enough for the power of your car.

well since I just have a n/a impreza I dont see much point in having it perform like a track car.

The reason I was looking at WRX brakes is because they are cheaper than new ones, and the drums on my impreza look horrible.

I just want my car to look sexy, that way when I make a performance vehicle it wont just render this one redundant.

Front brakes will look exactly the same but will go straight on so if you'll save money grab them, I've got a set with rotors sitting here from a 94/5 also, it's only 99 onward that got the 4 pots which look totally different & would probably also mean a change of wheels.

Changing to discs at the back can be done but you need struts, different knuckles & all the backing plates etc, find the bits off an old Liberty, they are the same fit, much easier to find & cheaper.

Pretty much all the same from 89 to 98, just don't go any newer. Must use FWD knuckles & struts too.
