Any reccomendations for good road tyres on a Forester Diesel.

We've had the car for 13 months now and not gone any further off road than gravel (once) and lawn.

I'm most interested in reducing sidewall roll on turn in on the road.

Good wet weather perfomance is a bonus, mainly braking, and good road holding in the dry a preference.

In short, if the road conditions are not ideal I slow down.

If you're after exc tyres for onroad performance then IMO, Yokohama C-Drives are hard to beat! Esp braking & cornering...

I got Bridgestone EP100's on my Outback and I aint real happy with them.

If I had the choice again, I'd get the Turanza GR90's

I, for one, ran a set of Duelers 683 - I think - on my previous car and they were great. Did 60k kilometres before selling the car and the tyres still had another 20k left I reckon...

Now, I could say that my Yokohama A/T-S set was crap, not only because I had 3 flats in 2 weeks (1 was only sand, 1 side wall puncture and 1 tread puncture), but also because bloody Yokohama didn't have me bloody size available in Oz, nor was going to receive it over the next 3 months!!:mad::mad:

But I'm not doing that for 2 reasons (phew...): Sure they bought themselves a truckload of understanding from me by getting me 5 new tyres (H/T-S) for free. But also because I realise I probably had some bad luck - and probably deserved the sand under the bead, if you get my drift...

In summary, these reputable companies all make pretty good tyres. Most of them are even warranting their products shall the unthinkable happens... If you want a good road tyre, you'll find good options with any of these brands.

I personally like both Bridgestone and Yokohama (but I will probably give Coopers a go with my new set of off-road tyres). If you're not particularly driven by "sports performance", a set of Yokohama C-Drives or Geolandars H/T-S would be fine, or even a Bridgestone Dueler 683 would suit.

Ive only ever known duelers to be horrid for tread life.

I have some Toyo Teo Plus H/T's on my outback that came with the car. They are fantastic on the road!!! Grip like all hell in wet or dry, for H/T are very good offroad (been on sand dunes with them and didnt have an issue).

When i first saw them they sounded like some cheap rubbish chinese brand or something, but after research found out that they are a premium tyre at ~ $220 a corner.

Brilliant tyre, steep price for a H/T but just saying Toyo is a good consideration.

I have had Yoko Cdrives on my GenII Liberty. I have given them a bit of a hard time and not found them wanting other than on fire trails when I worried about punctures. Definitely improved grip over my previous GT's which came with the 2nd hand wheels I bought anyway.

I think the Cdrives are a good performance/price compromise - paid $666 fitted with a full alignment for 4 195/60 15's. But they're nearly done and I reckon they will be good for only 30 000km all up, so not a choice for long life (as I said I've put them to the test on seal and gravel - sliding on gravel is a good way to wear out a tyre).

Now I'm looking for a tougher 205/60 15 for a bit more confidence off road.

There is no such thing. It is either Toyo Teo Plus, or Toyo Open Country H/T. The former is a passenger tyre, and the latter is an SUV/4WD tyre.

If the OP need a stiff sidewall for good cornering, then he should forget about the SUV tyres. Get a passenger tyre. Get an H- or V-speed rating, no less.
