Off road tyre recommendations needed for XT Forester

Post by Mares » Mon Apr 16, 2012 8:48 pm

Needing new tyres for my 06 XT Forester for combined off road and on road use. Forester is driven like it should be and I am looking for hard wearing All Terrain/mud tyres. Sizes 215/65/16 or 215/70/16
Any feedback negative/positive on any tyres will be greatly appreciated.

Do yuo have any lift in the car?

If you do then id go 215/70R16 in Geolander AT-S. A heap of guys with Foresters and Outbacks are running them (myself included) and are really happy with them. Great offroad and onroad.

The 215/70R16 are 2" (50mm) bigger than your stock tyres and will give you 25mm of lift...

Im looking to get 45-50,000km from mine too with really hard driving on them

I reckon Taza is right, if you're looking for long lasting tyres you can use everyday, than the Yokohama Geolandars A/T-S are your best bet...

Nachaluva will find this thread soon and tell you that the '-S' part of the tyre's name stands for silica, which is a game-changer in the long-lastingness (just made up a word?) of tyres.

In summary, the Yoko A/T-S is the best compromise for road and off-road usage. I had them for a while and will go back to them eventually.

Cheers,
Pedro.
