L series tyre sizes

If the world doesnt end tonight (better not I have to go to the dump tomorrow) I am interested in the following question -

In regards to L series ONLY.

What 14" tyre size have people found on their L series is too much with a standard EA82 engine.
What I am asking is there must be a size of 14" tyre that people have put on and thought to themselves "nup, this type size isnt worth it as I have lost so much power vs torque I should reduce this tyre size"
I am after tyre sizes such as 185/70/14 etc not 27" style of sizing.
I am still thinking of going to a set of 14's but not overdoing it with tyre size.
I may also be able to go with my current set of 13's but a bigger profile such as 74 series etc.

I have 215/65/r14. I did notice a difference to how 'zippy' it felt (or used to) but still.very drivable. I wouldn't go back.

185.70.14's not a worry for my little brain on L EA82 mit 3.7:1 diff ratio, huh on a date like today why would you even go to bed , stay up and wait for it :D

We went the high profile 185/75/13 on Glen's car which IMO work the best for beach work but they do make the car feel very boaty on the black top.

I am actually leaning towards staying with the 13's and do as you have done going to a higher profile.
I am currently running 185/70/13 tyres on 13 x 5.5 Speedy rims both of which are included as approved and not needing a speedo calibration box on my engineers certificate.
The offset is excellent on these rims and I wish I could buy a new set as mine are a bit ordinary.
There is a bit of difference in sizing but still manageable
185/70/13 - diameter 589.2
185/75/13 - diameter 607.7

I running 195/65/14, with 3.9 diff ratio.
Tyres grip much better on the sealed road than the standard size tyre, braking is better, power difference is slight, compared to 13" 175/70 and 3.7 diffs.
Ride is much smoother and the tyres are much wider, which is good on soft roads.
This car is EFi on LPG.

Tried 195R14 on my carby LPG 3.7 diff ratio L series, is was great in the bush, but with a load in it on the highway, pushbikes went past me up the hills. Back to 13" now.

Going off memory here and I'm sure Glen can tell us for sure but I think the standard L.Series speedo was out (according to the GPS) and with the higher profile, it's out a little but not really noticable. If you have a GPS, run that now against your speedo and then add the percentage difference from the 2 tyres. This should give you a good idea.
