Nankang wild conquerer super tripper. $110 each.
Good traction, pretty good at self cleaning after going through mud (better than BFG A/T), quiet on the bitumen. Main downside is probably the soft compound and non-reinforced sidewall. That said, they are a light truck tyre and I haven't had a puncture yet.
I run mine at 21psi off-road and they seem to handle it okay.

They are VERY difficult to get a hold of in WA however. Most places still claim they can not get em at all... Places that do track some down have a good wait for them. I agree though... good tyres... if only they were more available here.

I'll go against the grain here, I don't believe they are cost effective at all. BFGoodrich All-Terrains will last three times as long and cost less than twice as much.
Admittadly, the BFGoodrich may not be as good off-road (but you'll never puncture one) and they ride like the quality tire they are - I don't think anyone could say the same for the Nankangs.

agreed BFG's will last forever, and for the bush i reckon they are a better tyre. In the sand though the nankangs are MILES agead, plenty of guys up here have had both and would never go back to the BFG for the beach
the problem i have with BFG's is they are suicidal in the wet. I figure we are all lucky enough to own a 4x4 that still handles great on the road, you dont want to spoil that by fitting a tyre that doesnt hang on in the rain. The nankangs grip great on road, but the tradeoff is yes they dont last anywhere near as long as a BFG AT

Wilbur can attest to how lethal the BFGs are in the wet as he had one incident that was quiet spectacular.
Ill vote another for the Nankangs they are a good allround tyre and they last a fair while, driving my turbo L touring wagon on mostly road up and down the east coast of OZ i managed about 60000kms from them before they where needing replacement. They are a superb beach tyre and are good in mud and loose dirt, the only down side they have is a thin sidewall. I punctured a sidewall with them fitted to my Liberty, they where on a 7in rim not a 6in as recomended so that was part of the problem.

Nankangs 14" AT's are no longer being shipped into Oz. They are not in the new catalogue and the stock that is left in he country is it. This has come from tyre co.

I'm a big fan of the Wrangler TGs, but they're a M/T so probably not suitable for you. Have you considered 2 sets? one for the road ( 13" standard size ) and one for offroad ( 14" 27" m/t ). With a decent trolley jack and a 12" impact gun it only takes a few minutes per wheel to swap them over.
that way you'll get the best of both worlds.

yeh ive thought about having two sets of wheels...the L's especially with a 3inch lift look extremely gay and illegal with 13inch rims and poxy tyres..
so im thinking about keeping the 14's ive got now and buying another set of rims and putting the 27's on them...then the 4wd tyres would only come out in the off-road situations!
