Hello,

I have an L Series with a 2" lift in Rockhampton Queensland. Will the Super Trippers on 14" Speedies, fit under with a 2" lift or do I need to trim guards and generally stuff around to get them on ???

They will fit, provided you trim a little off (about an inch or so) the front guard. (The area of the front mudguard between the front wheel and the front doors). On a 2" lift, they will go on, but expect scraping on turning, without trimming.

Not a hard job, but does involve some careful work with a grinder and a rubber mallet for best results.

Hhhhhmmmm, still thinking, I was hoping they would fit without grinding !! I have been through that with an earlier model. I have 13" 185 R13 s at the moment, 627mm OD which is the same as 185x75x14. I agree that with the 14" wheels I went everywhere with the two earlier models I had, and did not lift either except wind up the suspension on the 1983 model. FANG did you have to Grind with the Coopers ?? I had the Super Trippers on a sierra and was most impressed with their performance. I got excited with the prospect of putting a set on the L Series, they are an awsome tyre. Is behind the front guard (between doors and tyre) the only place I will have problems ??

Yes had to grind with my Coopers - they are just a mite over 26". I wish I had gotten some new springs before I got the tyres - but you get that. I had to trim both the front and rear bottoms of the guards on the front.

I have standard springs (kings are in a box in my garage!) and monroe shocks. Probably would have helped if I had replaced the bushes as well.

No issues at the back - the rear of my car sits up anyways.

Have not tried Super Trippers - enough people seem to be happy with them though.

You might just have to "try it and see how it goes".

dont mean to hyjack but will the super trippers fit under the guards of a 3" lifted L-wagon? or will they need trimming aswell?

i've got 3" in the rear with kings and kyb's and have manage to cut the tyre in the middle of the tread ,this was going pretty quick over some rough stuff with quite a load,normally they don't scrub in the rear.worn springs and 2" in the front and they rub even after mallet and tinsnips work.

Well I am glad for the response, thanks to all. I will keep using my 185x13R, 627mm OD until I do some cutting and ineviatable grinding. It appears it is better to do both sides of front guards. The back of the wagon seems to sit up much higher than the front after the lift. It was supposed to be 2" all round. I checked the parts fitted and they are all 50mm alloy blocks. To level this out I would have to put the front up another inch. I did fit some new struts BUT I am sorry now I did not fit the earlier model adjustable struts and she would sit more level when they would be wound up. Sits a bit like a brumby ute at the moment. I have used Super Trippers in the past and also BFG's. For the money I would pick Super Trippers every time now.

This is my car, 3" lift with 27" BFG AT's. Only time I get rubbing is in these types of situations, never do in normal driving situations and my guards have not been touched.

rubbing may vary with the different types of wheel offsets.. those are scorpion wheels and they have the correct offset so im guessing if you had 27" tyres on 14" sunraysias the rubbing might be there a bit more

Where do you get them and how much do they cost ?? Maybe the Scorpian wheels are the answer ?

The wheels are not overly cheap - and I am not sure if he's making them at the moment. I strongly suggest you call rather than using email.

I had brand new KYB's and Kings Installed, and a 3", and I still required trimming of the guard. Only the rear of the mudguard. The front requires nothing at all.

My mate had scorps on his 2" Lifted L with new KYB's/Kings, and also required trimming of the abovementioned area.

Its no big job. I do suggest using a hair dryer or heat gun to warm up the paint somewhat, to help in prevention of cracking, thus unsightly lines/surface rust.
