Hi,
Just picked up some 13" sunnies (thanks Wraith:)) and am just about due for tyres.
Would like to get an AT type tyre and was wondering how to go with brands and sizes...Whats the biggest I could get away with without the need to trim guards (R65/70/75 or 175/185)

Experiences?

I'd suggest go into a shop and ask what they can get.. then they do hours of searching and let you know.. Saves time. eh
I really don't think you could get a road legal tyre that would rub fitted to a 13" rim.

There's really only one that's available for the 13" rim and they're designed just for the Subies and only only other similar designed car, the Toyota Tercel/Corolla 4WD wagon. They're a Toyo mud/snow tyre in a 175/70/13 or 185/70/13 by recollection. Check out their website for details and photos. They're a pretty nice tyre I hear but going for the 185/70/13 isn't going to break any laws in difference and certainly won't cause any significant change in height or body rubbing. I'm sure that if you WANT to find something bigger and rugged still in a 13" then try quadbike and tractor services - seriously.

Thanks guys, anyone know what to pay for the toyo 720f's...Saw some budget brand new road tyres in a 175/70 r13 for $59.00ea and it got me thinking maybe this is the way to go?
I wonder how much difference a more aggresive tread might make

and is it worth the extra $$$

I've looked at offroading tyres for the 13in rim and at $140 each i said forget it (wasn't that well off back then, still not), can't remember what they were. Ended up getting some Maxxis road tyres, standard size for the 13's. This is whats in my sig, hard to see but i still go offroading with them. Mud and really loose dirt on inclines are the main problems, but i don't really encounter them often.
I got 4 new tyres and a wheel alignment for somewhere near $370 from memory.
Cheers
