hi all.

im about to do a 6stud conversion.

Just wondering what offset is standard l-series and what offset are the l-series speedy 14in rims.

Also what offset are the bigger 4wd's and which model is likely to be of a similar offset to l-series.

Prompted to ask, why do you need the six stud conversion?
You can get 14" and 15" 4 stud Subie rims that are 6" wide so you are either chasing 16" tyres or over 235mm width?

i want to go some nice 15inch alloys without forking out copious amounts of coin for custom ones

What about Superlites?

Phizinza has done it (6 stud conversion) and i believe he has superlites off a mazda bravo or something similar. Offset is pretty good

My goodness that's a rough job and the description gave me a good chuckle too. I do hope if you're going to redrill your hubs you use a little more finese. That's kindergarden grade stuff!

there's nothing wrong with the superlite's i actually like them. Im just worried about how they stand up off-road.

And what sort of price do they go for? availability? If they go ok off-road im more than up for some.

Im pretty sure that the superlites are close to $1000 a set.

So how do you know you haven't weakened the hubs by redrilling them.I mean how many people have smashed their wheels in a suba.If they have it would be pretty rare.
If brumbyrunner is using Superlites don't you think they would be the best.

thats abit toooo much for me to justify on my poor wagon lol.

and i dont think it would weaken the hubs at all. Radial force is f/a especially with 6 lugs.

I don't think the hub is likely to crack unless you're in a bad accident but I understand the mod is illegal in all states.

I've got a set of steelies off a early pajero 15x6 the offset is better than the speedy 14" rims,the paj rims sit in more.I can measure the offset if you like.I'm sure you seen heaps of post over on the usmb about 6 stud conversions.I wouldn't be too worried about strength,legalities are like every other mod on a subaru .

Correct.

It is a hard drill, get them done if you have even moderate skills.
I got them done for me by a bloke with MACHINING skill.
Getting them wrong in the drilling(I have done that too) could be catastrophic.
Apart from that...

I have jumped them,
Spun them,
gently crashed them,
and generally abused them by rallying through nasty rocky roads/tracks with two thumbs up results.

Depending on the budget....give it a go.
I am a happy camper.

It all depends on the total outside diameter. When I went from stock 13" to 14" I dropped from a 165/70/13 to a 185/60/14 (this is from memory, it may have been 165/75/13) and the overall increase in OD equated to a couple of k's @ 100kph. Generally most speedo's are conservative ex-factory also (bloody good thing in speed camera mad Victoria). Obviously, as the rim gets bigger the tyre needs to go lower profile to keep the same OD - I think it's about 50/55 profile in 15" which is definitely not off-road material

Id also recommend getting them professionally machined. I know of a few good places that are not going to charge you an arm and a leg and do a lot of automotive work also.

im just going to redrill the 4wd rims for another two holes. (sunnrasiers ect of course) MAYBE weld up the other spare holes maybe. FTP!

Offset for stock L-Series is +42mm

i redrilled 6 stud sunraisers, bolted a spare hub to it an off i went.

but i went nuts and gave them extra holes to look like multi stud patern saved on welding! (no loss if they crack. full set, 2 with tyres for $30 at a swap meet)
