Sharks first ever subaru!!!!!!

Post by Shark » Sat Sep 20, 2008 12:04 am

Well it finally happened, i am now the proud owner of my very first subaru. I have been in the background for a while, just reading old posts most nights and asking the occasional question when i got confused..

I was originally gonna go for an L series but after a few questions and comments i decided that a liberty would probably be more suited for what i want it for, well actually a few people thought it would be better for me so i took the advice from the experts...:p

After going to look at a few vehicles neil's (Seagull's) Lifted liberty came up for sale.. Seemed like it had the goods so i had to go have a look at it.. A few PM's in between had me pretty confident that i was going to have a look at a fairly well built vehicle..

Went and had a look, being a subaru noob i let Neil tell me all about it. Said he would happily get in and drive to queensland in it, he was that confident in it. That amoungst other things i was pretty condfident it was gonna be a good purchase. Needs paint as its currently in primer but my brother owns a panel and paint shop and with some pleading he agreed to get some paint on it for me.

Picked it up tonight, as usual when you buy a second hand car it had absolutely no fuel.... thanks neil....lol.. So after filling it up began the short drive home.. Just in that short drive home i was impressed but i took it easy..

So tomorrow its getting the paint job and on sunday i have a couple of nice fellas from the forum coming over to give us a hand put it all back together because marc has no clue...:D

Lots and lots of pictures to be taken:mrgreen:

Yeah its road registred, not with that engine of course but its got rego. Sorted out the paint job today but stupid me had a go of painting and its not as easy as i thought... Anyhoo he says he can get the runs out....lol...not too bad and the colour turned out a bit darker cause of the 2 pac clear with gold pearl...mmmmm noice...

Got to his workshop and spent five mins under the car having a look and the bloody tranny is leaking.. Gonna nip up all the bolts and hope that works otherwise i think it might be due for a new pan gasket...

At someone elses computor right now, took plent of pics will have all of em up tomorrow night..

Cant wait to get this baby out there in some soft stuff..

PICS TO COME:mrgreen:

Oh and just realised that the key i got with the car only does the drivers door and ignition and i dont have a key to lock the tailgate... Anyone know of a reasonably priced locksmith, if so let us know... might be cheaper putting in central locking...

Well the blue liberty is all pretty much together now. Apart from a few small minor things she is looking the goods for sure... Devil dave came round to give us hand as i had no clue how to put anything together... and i mean no bloody idea...Thanks matey.... My car would still sound like a wind tunnel if he hadnt put the seals in.... But now its quite quiet compared to before.. actually enjoyable...

To help with the lack of locks in the tailgate dave also helped install a central locking system and all went well apart from the one i wired backwards...hahahaha...damn i thought i had it the right way round..

So have a few things left to do.. Have taken plenty of pics but im running out of time to get them up as i wont have the interent for a while so im hoping someone nice wll host them for me:-D

Updates when i have the net:mrgreen:

Little bit of an update,

Well i did my best to avoid the boost bug but with the help from a couple of ausubaru members its now running a pretty consistant 12/13psi of boost.. Thankyou very much Suba ( Mike ) for donation of the manual boost valve ( With instructions:mrgreen: ), and thanks to Dave for answering his phone a 100 time while i was trying to install the boost gauge.. After about 10 runs down Ennis Ave and the valve not working i realised i had the hoses the wrong way round....dammit..lol

I find it to be a much more enjoyable car to drive now, keep me happy knowing that even half throttle see's it at max boost!! SO SWEET!!

I have a nice K and N pod filter to go on, some tinting and hopefully in fortnight i will have a nice xforce cannon on the rear end..

Still a few drama's to sort but nothing too serious..

More pics to come...

Hey guys, tiny bit of an update, not much really but i was pretty happy with my score today.. Was out doing the sunday morning swap meets when i came across a dealer with a couple of boxes of mount blanc fishing rod holders, the big ones that attach to your roof racks.. Tried to get him down but he wasnt budging ( Mongrel;) ) in the end i was pretty happy with the price of $40... 30 mins sorting out the brackets and they were on.. Need to make some proper spacers when i have time but it will do for now...

One of the most important things off the list...

As simple as it is im impressed with the install, here is my boost gauge. Picked the gauge up for $40 new and the cup was hell expensive for $30 but not too bad..
