87 Wagon

Hey guys thought I would finally get around to putting up a few pics of my 87 wagon. It is a bare basic 5spd manual carby EA82.
There is very little mods done to it at present these include:
195r14 AT recap tyres
bullbar (custom made out of parts found at wreckers.)

But mods that are coming are:
3" inch lift from high-rise
27*8.5*14 Nangkang suppertrippers
2" exhust system
and possibly a snorkel.

As you can see from the pics in the process of changing the rear wheel bearing (what a job)

Looks like you have a nice starting point. Do your lift first and you exhaust after as you will have to get it modified after you lift it.

Hey Suby87,

What is involved in the rear wheel bearing, and what are the costs of the parts, as its not really something u can go second hand on hey. I have an 88 TWagon, with some funny rasping grinding sounds coming from the rear passenger side. Will need replacing soon methinks. Also this is a non reusable bearing right? how does this work, must be sealed... Where should I look for info. That gregories work manual is not much help.

They are not sealed and are a double taper roller bearing. The bearing for one side will set you back around $70 you have to get outer race out which is about the hardest part. then just retighten as tight as you can get the preload is set in the race design.

hey smokey,

can't really help much as this is the first time I have done this job on a suby. It seems to be a lot harder than it looked at the outset. The bearing cost me $110 from repco could have got it cheaper but didn't want to drive out to Auto one.

Has anyone got any hints on this job as I am now stuck on trying to unstake this nut at the back. Photos would be extra helpful but probally pushing my luck.

Undo the rear brake drum hub nut then using a pin punch tap the inner nut gently counter clockwise and it will undo.
