seriously how do I miss these posts ... I'm not being tinky winky

and now for something completely different...

I may have gotten rid of my code 24, 2 AIC valves later I found via the vortex FSM the vehicle speed read sensor (aka VSS connector) ECU plug T8, connector 29 YR.

I ran a test wire from that connector to the VSS imput (only 8 feet long) and Ive not had a code since. now all I have to do is find the wire at the speedo end of the loom and make the wire 7 feet shorter.

I have this niggling feeling there was nothing wrong with the first replacement valve :)

I think it's just coincidence because whenever the ECU doesn't get the true VSS signal, the ECU goes into limp mode (fans stay on and engines revs slightly higher). Code 24 is Air control valve or circuit only. If you check the power supply relay (ignition relay) then this could be supplying the incorrect voltage.

You sure of that? My car has never had a VSS, and has never limped. That's on both the Impreza and Lib ECUs. It has thrown an air control valve code, but that didn't put it into limp mode either.

Yes Dane I am.. My first 2 conversion I did back in the mid nighties also didn't have them fitted but I always had issues with weird sh*t.. so from then on, I've always fitted them and with much success. I'm not sure if it will happen on all models but I'm thinking that connecting 1 extra wire isn't going to worry me.

Yes.. code 24 will throw it into limp mode I can guarantee that. As the ECU will try and protect the engine from running lean due to sticky/open IAC valve.

edit.. BTW Dane.. just for my reference, is your fans connected via the ECU or radiator switch?

when do we see pictures of hatchy?
Ok just for you Jules - and just a bit off topic and no mention of teeth !

Image
Wings / Fenders off - the work begins.......(old fenders used to help sell MV2)

The front end of Hatchy is as new body wise - thanks to a historical oil leak from the front of the engine ! Possibly saved this cuties skin from the scrappers !
Caption time - C'mon Jules you should come up with a good one for the next piccy !:rolleyes:

nice pics Giles and I love the handbrake. Is that a factory radiator expansion bottle fitted behind the where the passenger guard goes?

we never got such fancy apparatus on the Australian delivered "MY" range (well I have never seen one)

when will we see a Hatchy rebuild thread?

LOL !! no its the headlamp washer fluid bottle ! - did you guys not get this option ? Christ you know when that is working as you get a sunami coming over the front towards you - very high pressure !!

Use the bricks so we dont have to leave hand brake on when parked up for a while. ;) The pile in the background is our selection - we like to have a few kicking around !
(actually hardcore for backfilling a mamoth wall project we are doing -slowly)

The build thread will commence shortly. The Hatchy needs a clutch in first (it wont drive at all atm) so get that done and fix the oil leak (thinks simply sump gasket / oil pump) steam it all down. Then look at the body work which is mended from 99% of the rust that needs fixing (rear wheel arches on the outer edges) But its a gerry job so its all to be removed and done again correctlty !
Keep watching for the new thread guys !

So for the last couple of days I have been driving out to Collie from Australind for work.

(nice school pity about some of the students)

Those that know the road, will know that it will test a motor and the EJ22 in the vortex has passed with flying colours.

no codes, no problems and Jetcar has been a dream to drive. Ive even annoyed a few canyonaro and commod drivers as well. :)

I just need to get the aircon working as the bubble design of the vortex passenger area makes for a nice oven :)

Have done similar with my similar powered EA82T with annoying P plated Bommodores, it just opens up around 120 k, the Bommo was not as responsive to follow me on overtaking - or maybe he had to take a call :D
Good to hear of RSR's happy customer

Ive just completed a shock upgrade for Jetcar, they may look familiar :)

Image

Image

and depending on how hard the ride is I may put the rear springs from Jetcars current shocks into these.
Image

Now all I need is a couple of hours without interuption from children or adults. :)

I finally got time to put the coil overs on the back of jetcar

before with the old shock in place
Image

after with the coil over in place
Image
Image

one of the old shocks out and in bits
Image

when I have a moment away from the family I will show the difference in ride height.

the handling is way better, I can now go through a corner without the left shock rattling and bottoming out,(for that matter either shock) and when I hit a pothole or bump on the road at any speed the rear end behaves like a car and not a go kart.

I got a moment to put the ride height photos in

this is before
Image

this is after

He can have them for the cost of postage, sadly they have had a coil cut off them and it looks like an angle grinder with a cutting disc was used. :(

Wow-mine are full length and only just encaptured!
Probably not a problem with the pre 87 rear shocks though, aye?
I wish I knew the KYB part number for those...
