I will have to play with the plugs for the engine harness.

What are you trying to look for?

Which plugs? EJ or EA?

Doesn't matter if you have A/C or not. All XT's have EFI and this plug for the dizzy

The EA plugs that do nothing on the firewall now :)

Toying with the idea of using the AC switch in the console, as a switch for a set of drving lights.

aaaw, clever fella who has done enough wiring in his lifetime to want an easier way out. Here is me , ripped out the AC wiring of my sedan improving its weight (wired up driving lights direct to HB :) ) did not think of the extra capabilities ....

IMO, there is too much involved in trying to use the A/C wiring, as the original system uses pressure switches in the A/C lines before the system will switch on the compressor clutch (which I guess you were wanting to use to activate the spot light relay). I would suggest running a twin core wire from under the bonnet in to the cabin switch and use the wiring diagram on this forum to wire it up the spotties.

Yep I want to use the switch to trigger the relay and yes I was going to plug in my recently aquired MPFI engine harness (freebie) and see if I could find the wires with the FSM and a bit of trickery.

It may well be easier just to run a 2 core wire to the switch and go from there to the relay and light active.

the old twin core ! Another good idea . It is a wonder I never thought of it before as a mate found half a kilometre of it a few years back, all nicely wound on a spool which sports some gravel rash. I can help him use it up now :D

MMMMM ... twin core wire funnily enough I was looking for twin core wire under the bonnet of a 93 sedan when I found this...

It is a nice little converter from the 3 or 4 plug to the 2 plug alternator.

I'm just curious as to why the resistor was put in between the 2 wires, and according to the resistor calculator it is 69 ohms

MMMMM.... 69 ohms

Not sure on the resistor but not sure how they make a 3 wire into 2 wire? Wonder if this is where the resistor joins onto??

That cleary white plug looks the same as another plug on the Subaru.. just can't think which one :(

The white plug is where the 3 or 4 plug alternator plugs in, and of course the other end goes straight to the 2 plug alternator.

the white plug kinda looks like the main engine harness plug for a brumby but is bigger :)

May be a pull up resistor. Maybe the 3/4 pin sends out a signal to the ecu to indicate charge?? donno without having a bo peep. Looks like that resistors been getting hot though.

You two are like a married old couple.

Apparently one of the 3 wires goes to the ECU and this tells the alternator to start charging http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic.php?t=18135. so perhaps the resistor fools the ECU. or just gets really hot and glows for that extra ricer effect.

I was under the impression that the 4th wire went to the ECU and the 3rd wire went to the dash? Need to see wiring diagram to see for sure.
