Visors look sooooooo gooooooood on ratty kingswoods! Dad pulled his visor for the HZ out of the shed after seeing mine...haha.
Saw Frog today and got my bushes for the gear stick. Also picked up some narva driving lights while its 20% off for nrma members at repco. The old ones didn't fit anymore when i fitted the bullbar. So it was time for a freshen up.

Forgot to get a pick of both. But this shows the little brackets i used. Pretty happy with them, light is very white!

Might tackle the gear stick tomorrow!
Cheers, Stretch.

Gear stick bushes!
Tore the centre console apart!

Unbolted the 4wd selector.

Which freed up the rubber boot and gave me access to the selector bolt and bush.

More in the next post!

Looks like a huge improvement with those spotties
Also, those gear selector bushes look in good shape. Have a good look at the selector arm thingy

I also slotted the selector and tightened it up...
!!!Make sure the gear selector was in 2nd or 4th otherwise you wont be able to slide the selector off easily!!!
First take the little spring off of it.

Then slip underneath, I found mine already had a bolt through it. But it wasnt slotted very well. (So unfortunately i dont know how the original pin is removed). Unbolt the exhaust support and unbolt the selector. Slide it off. Mine only had one side slotted which means no clamp and a selector with more play than a box of puppies.

I attacked it with a hacksaw with two blades... both in the same direction. It took some elbow grease.

And I got this.

So I slipped it back in and tightened the nut and bolt good!
Alot less play!

Then went about putting the gear stick back in etc.
I noticed that my gearbox leak is coming from the selector shaft input. So i might have to look into that soon.
Overall this has brought me down to a third or so of the original play.
Cheers, Stretch.

The bushes were in good nick. But seeing as it has to be removed to get the selector out i thought $20 to replace them wouldnt be a bad idea. Plus if i didnt buy them then found they were shagged, i'd look stupid haha.RSR 555 wrote:Looks like a huge improvement with those spotties

Looks good Stretch and you can change the selector shaft seal but they don't last long. Your one looks pretty bad, so it will stop probably 80% of it. I would look at replacing the seal then mix up a 2 part mix and put on the selector when you put it back together. The 2 part gluey stuff stops the oil going inside the selector and allowing the play to start again.

Definitely.. for $20 they are best to replace, I would have done the same. It's good that Andy still has them available.Stretchomatic wrote:The bushes were in good nick. Changed the stereo setup again. Decided to try a 10 inch sub behind the passenger seat. I redid all the amp wiring aswell since i wasnt happy with the old stuff.

Ended up with this.

Sounds not to bad. Ill have to fiddle with the wiring and tuning to get more volume out of the sub. It doesnt kick in until the music is pretty loud.
Cheers, Stretch.

Did a bit more tuning. It's getting better. Thunk I might try a slimmer ported box, as the seat soaks up most of the bass.
Yep thats how the speakers are all the time, I really dont want to cut or drill holes anywhere, so its a compromise.
This is the first ute ive put a stereo in, so ive got a bit of figuring out to do.
Cheers, Stretch.

I have a similar problem. I basically have what you have set up behind your driver's seat, but behind each seat, plus a 6" in each door for high end.Stretchomatic wrote:Did a bit more tuning. It's getting better. Thunk I might try a slimmer ported box, as the seat soaks up most of the bass.
But in the little ute the bass is still decent. Seat "soaking it up" isn't bad in my eyes, gives a good massage
