You know you are getting old when the candles on your birthday cake start to cost more than the cake itself.

I don't think there is anything available on the market that is wifey proof.. might me best to check with NASA?TOONGA wrote:but is it wifey proof?

nope NASA don't have a wife proof force-field the were working on it when their wives found out ..... it wasn't pretty
OK pictures first I will have to edit the video then I will you-tube it
PJ from the front with shiny air cleaner and headers

a closer view shows how it all looks now

that throttle connection clamped so it doesn't jam on plus a return spring added

and all of the anti-pollution hooked up and working

and the air cleaner doesn't touch the bonnet so yay

the dizzy is out of a MK3 escort (England only) same as the one below
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ESCORT-MK3-1300-C ... 35a5859657
(only a couple of small modifications were needed)
and as for performance it drives very much the same as my EJ22 liberty.
I tried to get PJ bogged today on a sand track (with standard 32 psi in the tyres) which is very much like White Hills beach and even when the car was bottoming out (dragging on the ruts made by canyoneros) I still has enough power to pull out of the ruts and drive off with my son laughing his head off
even when I had to change from 2nd to 1st PJ just kept going
Im just trying to work out the best fuel mixture once Ive got that sorted then I will be extra happy

Ok after everything was photo-ed video-ed and edited yesterday I decided to degrease the engine and now I wish I never had as careful as I was (clean rag in the carby and water kept well away from it) Ive discovered this morning that the secondary chamber has water in it so now Ive got to get that out somehow (metho in the tank this morning on discovery and carby cleaner down the top while running) still having problems.
I don't really want to take the top off the carby as I dont have a kit (hopefully I will win the one Im bidding on)
any suggestions?
off to work now (I hope)

well the link came up and I ended up downloading the video with flashget
not bad at all
and Bennie when Paul gets back from driving all over WA I'm going to the workshop to fit the remainder of my real exhaust and make an easy fit off-road exhaust set up as well, using a 20 dollar stainless steel hotdog thingie i got from the wreckers.
so I will have a near new cat going into a resonator then a standard late model exhaust (all of which is from a late model wrx) which will swap out for the noise maker

and a little update on the holley saga I priced and bought a Haynes holley book from the US for 25 dollars AU delivered and found that I could actually use the 350 aka model # 2300 on Frank with some minor adjustments; a less aggressive accelerator cam is required,(35 dollars here just over 20 dollars from the US) smaller main jets which Ive done already (venturis are fine) and a vacuum hole that which was left open when I took off the manual choke(for the automatic choke - rubber diaphram model) needs to be blocked off (which would explain a few of the air leak problems I was having like 99% of them) and I need to get a hold of a vacuum gauge and find out how much vacuum the engine generates then put in a power valve to suit
