- How old is the Battery ?
- Battery holding charge correctly ?
- Alternator OK ?
- Do you have a relay to the Starter ?
- Faulty / corroded wiring ?
- Bad ignition switch ?
- Earth leakage ?
Could be any number / combination of these ...

Ciao, Bantum ...
Yeah ok DougSubydoug wrote:I dont think a bad fuel pump would cause the sluggish cranking.

Could have been but I doubt it, as the battery was on charge for 2 days before I put it in with clean poles and a clean positive and brand new negative clamp.NachaLuva wrote:Or a bad connection fixed when you swapped batteries?
I'm using the correct AC delco platinum plugs.nncoolg wrote:Forget about the starter, if it turns over it, the battery, the cables, the clamps are all doing their job, The alt is only to keep the battery topped up, so forget about it too.
Are you getting ignition? - at the plug? if so, are you getting ignition under compression?
If you are using NGK plugs, try champion, they are more resistant to shorting.
If you are confident ignition is fine, how old is the fuel? doesnt take long to go off, especially if it is an ethanol blend
Have you tried giving it a 'cup of tea' down the throttle body then cranking?
Igntor was tested and replaced and tested I added that to the post along with the tests for the coil packs.El_Freddo wrote:Time to replace the ignitor?
Only ask as it seems that you don't have any spark if it's just flooding.
I had an issue with the TPS unit being a part of a problem with starting and poor running. At the same time I replaced the knock sensor and temp sensor. The TPS was replaced with a cleaned out second hand unit.
But I was still able to start it with a lot of effort.
Are you using the EJ starter circuit in the conversion?
It is possible that the TPS could stop/make it difficult to start the engine.

Doug if I could get it to start I would drive up todaySubydoug wrote:If you want Jules your welcome to bring it around some time and we can have a look at all your signals with my scope, make sure they look happy.
If its flooded, spraying more fuel down its gob aint gonna help. Try cranking at WOT, if the ecu is smart enough it will realize your trying to clear a flood and turn off the injectors.
