That would be a great way to round out the weekend and I could test the new setup on the beach

I would have to bring my 14s' as well because at the moment Im running my 13 inch wheels as they have street legal tread on them as 2 of the 14s' as down to the tred indicators on one side something to do with subarus positive camber

:(

Whoooooooooaaaaa.. It's alive :mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen:

After a lot of mucking around today we got the EJ20 running with the 350 Holley and Fiori Dizzy.

With not many hours left for fitting, we made the executive decision not to put it in this weekend :( But stay tuned

hmmmmm.... 87 repies 2,033 views (lots of watching going on here)

A fun weekend was had at RSR sadly the ancient electronic ignition died along with a coil (no footage as the camera was off) so Frank was run with a points dizzy in that video things went well apart from me leaving parts of the holley under the bonnet of my brumby and driving to Trigg and back without realising they were there.

there is still alot to do, stopping the holley from drowning the engine (did you set that needle and seat ? yes... yes I did...... my mistake) hence the big cloud of fuel on start up. making the tailshaft long enough (L series and liberty put together) and finding a suitable electronic dizzy and much more

once again a big thank you to Paul

No probs at all Julian.. It's my pleasure :) would have loved to get it in but we'll have to wait till another weekend.

Yes Julian.. It looks like people are interested but are frightened to comment :)

I was thinking about the float level.. I'm 99% sure it's the fuel pump pushing too much pressure and with that return line we should be all good. After we run Frank the secound time, I'm happy to say that 350 Holley will be fine. We'll need to tune it and I have a Digital Lamba gauge that we can connect to your O2 sensor and set your Air/Fuel perfectly :)

not a problem Alex next time (when Im allowed out again) when we put Frank into PJ

Paul Ive done a bit of research on that leaking butterfly shaft and the shaft is stepped inside the the base plate (will try to find a photo) so over time it will gum up but to solve the problem quickly Ive been told it can be packed with hi temp grease (bags not trying to get the butterflys off the shaft)

all in all a fun time ( apart from the melting coil and dying ancient ignition)

Cheers Mike.

Sounds dodgy to me but we can try it. I'd look in the Quokka for a cheap 350 that doesn't have shaft play :)

sadly most of the "cheap" holleys have the same problem the picture below (so far the best I can find) shows why the carby leaks so easily

Image

Im sure with a small amount of machining O rings could be put in place to stop the leaks

no but I do think it would work, it would be fun to refit the shaft but Im sure a bit of grease would hold them in place :)
