Once again a big thanks to Paul for his help with my brumby.

for a couple of months now my catalytic converter has been stuffed I found a new one and after a lot of cutting and welding I now have a supersized cat that not only works really well but has made PJ sound less like a truck and to quote Paul "it just sounds like a brumby now"

zgreeny nice find, I did notice that the EA82 dizzy pictured is a little different to the one I sold you but it will still work.

well I got back from Perth last night and I checked the letterbox. seems a package from America that was holidaying in the winters of Europe has made it to the sunny shores of Australia just in time for Autumn. I checked the code on the little red notice and it could only be that parcel.

Do the happy dance. :)

another little update as well

MX5 front Springs conversion to the rear of my brumby

Having tried L Series springs and deciding they were too long due to the modified top mount with this result

I got a hold of a set of MX5 aftermarket front springs this is what one looks like next to a standard brumby shock (at full extension)

it was then modification time using the modified top from the L series shock

Spring compressor (it wasn't really needed as the black spring is highly compressible

modified top on the rubber moved enough to allow the centre shim to meet up with the top washer

The weather has held of sort of it has drizzled over the course of the morning but I have managed to get the shocks in

a well placed jack to help position the shock

I wound the front suspension up as well but it looks the same so I didn't bother with a picture :)

Im very happy with the final ride, I will need to get used to the fact that the rear end actually goes up and down now :)

I took it down a sand track that canyonaros have turned into a rutt-fest and with 40 psi in the tyres I didn't have a problem in fact it seemed to handle better and sink less

I didn't even know you had replied until I saw the thread, remember up until very recently I didn't have internet during the week.

and thanks the are a big improvement in handling as well I just need to adjust them so they are a bit stiffer :)

LOL.. no sweat big fella and by the sounds of it, no internet again after your son's effort :(

Bit stiffer?? that sounds odd :???: you said they came out of the front of an MX5 (engine end) and you've got them in the back of a Brumby (no weight) :confused: Did the shock have enough bounce back when you had the springs off?

yep they had compression and rebound like they should otherwise I wouldn't have put them in.

the problem is that they are set to drop an MX5 on the ground, so they are on a really soft setting. when they are out of the car you can turn the yellow spring by hand as the black spring is ultra compressible.

they work fine but I think they could be a little stiffer to stop the bump then small jiggle Im getting on the highway.
