So, with that Mucking around outta the way, I decided to something 'simple' and 'easy' and run the tranmission cooler lines. The cooler is in the tray, mounted to the roll bar and they need to run under the floor (not through the cabin, like a previous owner did) so as if they should burst, I dont get scalded. So i went to ENZED, and bought this pretty blue hose, and then some poly pipe to run it through to protect it. So I put it on, started putting on some clamps, when I realized that i need a few things in place first. So I got the Radius Rod mounts in place, Then the Gearbox crossmember, and the engine crossmember. Then I discovered that there isnt a whole heap of room, and where it needs to go, is a Captive nut/Nobdule bit sticking out. Now... the other side one had been removed (gently with an Oxy!) and I 'was' planning to leavi this one here, But it needed to go so I sliced It off.
Its about now that my troubles really began. Underneath the Nobdule was choccas with mud and rust, so I cleaned it all out (no big deal) then I found some Horrid looking bitsof plate and welds and such, from a previous 'repair'. To do a decent job, would involve cutting out a reasonable secion of the tunnel and bending new plate into a compound curve and welding it back in. I 'had' thought I'lld finished with patching holes, But you gotta do what you gotta do. So thats what I did.

Sorry, I answered this a while ago but it mustnt have posted.
, I'm not running braided tranny hose purely because of the cost.
as for the Auto, I asked ol' mate I bought it from the same question, Saying "you've built it pretty much as I would have, but why the Auto?
He answered, "because the manuals break easily, and bieng from an SVX, its the strongest tranny subaru make. And I was planning on supercharging it" fair enough. makes sense.
So that, plus it came with it and has the shifter in place already and it has a 'manual' function. And the rearwheel disconnect will go well with the hydralic handbrake rear.
If its a PITA, i mayhave i 5speed I can buy. I would prefer a 6speed, but again, $$$.
Cheers, Rohan.

Sooo, It's been a while, time for and update. I have been doing a little, here and there, but haven't had too much time to work on the ol' girl. having drama at work and looking for a new job, sick of working with railtards.
Done a bit more seam welding, grinding, sandblasting and cold gal'ing. in the proccess of patching where the roll bars pass through the rear wall.
Today the wreckers had a $40 entry, all you can carry deal. you dont need to ask me twice, I know what I can carry.... Soooo i got this stuff>>
Those with a keen eye may see, complete intake manifold, with wiring loom, 2 alternators, starter motor, 2 LHS Lseries indicators, 2 Aircon eggpressors, one with the Alloy bracket, ECU, MAF, heap of fuses and relays, an impreza key, 2 coilpacks and leads, a few 3" hoseclamps, An idler pully bracket, a tow hook, various badges, and an oldschool speedo off a godknows what.
Mission accomplished.
I think I got my moneys worth.
Cheers, Rohan M.

You carry a fair load for a young fella!
My main worry with the auto (apart from overheating) was that they sap a lot of power. Compared to the competition, Subarus don't have a lot of power to spare and they're certainly down on capacity.
I'll be upgrading to a 6 speed before long so if I'll be looking to offload my built 5 speeds then.

G'day Rohan,
holy snapping duckshit just had another look back at the first lot of pics you posted, what a heart breaker to see all the dodgy bodgy work that it was when you got it. But now you must be congratulated on your perserverance to get it back to a respectable condition. It always astounds me that anybody could butcher a vehicle then falsely represent it for sale.
Keep up the fantastic work and looking forward to seeing the old girl finished and on the road.
Best regards
