Nice,
I like the look of the early style grill. The dash buttons must also be different and cool:p Let us know what you do to him:D

Rupert looks like our twins, Guy.. he just has the early model grille and some import corner lights but the rest will be all the same. We can start a grey touring wagon club soon
Nice mods you have planned there Ben.. sounds like it's going to become a great getaway vehicle

I know that paint colour came out for a very short time - even the trim colour is different to the regular grey that came out with everything else...
Looks like you've done some research into your mods. Good stuff!

spent a few hours today putting a cd player and new speakers in. The facsia came from subareck, $15, and the new speakers (hidden in original holes) are 6 inch kickers. When i get around to it, i'll stick some more in the back

ok, seems a bit weird, the cd player keeps switching off while driving. The earths are good and main power comes directly from the battery. My only thought is i may have to rewire the yellow accessories cable. Thoughts?

Definately either loose connections or the unit is crappy

good unit. Only bout 10 month old. Was working fine in the vt. Have done dozens of installs and never had the problem before

Or the ignition switch is dodgy on the accessories part of the switch. Check the soldering on the back of the ignition switch - you'll find it mounted on the passenger's side of the steering column at the back of the key barrel.
Otherwise check the connection you made to the wire the turns on with the accessories and see if its a good connection. I hope you used a decent connector or some solder and heat shrink!

I know that when my battery and alternator battled against each other and killed themselves the radio was the first thing to start playing up.( i dont know why?? anyone?) I would be checking your battery and alternator..

so today i mounted the gauges in rupert. Water temp, oil pressure and ammeter. Oil pressure and temp on drivers side and ammeter in middle. All are mechanical. Havent got around to wiring up the lights yet, but will do when i connect the gauges, hopefuly next weekend.
