Massive looking project - creamed in a few days WOW !
A little inspiration there too
TOONGA, we need a comparo write up, you know, the typical my refreshed EJ is heaps better than my tired old EA82T
What sort of torque is new donk rated at? I recall EJ22 and EA82T was about same.
How much extra weight at the front, sink a bit ?

Opps.. can't have been too loose tho.. I did do it up with my massively strong fingersTOONGA wrote:I"m home again and the car is running great (even better once I tightened the leaking power steering line )
No probs at all Jules.. Love to playTOONGA wrote:A big thanks To RSR555 for going above and beyond once again, Subarino, not just for cutting the loom down but then for wiring the computer side into the not cavernous vortex under dash. Guyph as well for all the stuff he donated. (I think I will need to put one of those shopping lists on the rear quarter glass with sponsor names )
But I must also say a HUGE !! THANKS to Davarino (aka Subarino) for giving us his time. It was an awesome help and I'd wished he lived closer cause without you bro I'd be lost. Can't praise you enough Dave, you are a bloody legend mate.
Yep.. and I don't need the headaches !! lolTOONGA wrote:as for the turbo I don't need it for what Jetcar will be doing

I wouldn't suggest it be done so quickly as I think everybody is still hobbling aroundsteptoe wrote:Massive looking project - creamed in a few days WOW !

It is 200% better than the motor that came out, the EA82T was literally running as a 2 stroke due to blow bysteptoe wrote:TOONGA, we need a comparo write up, you know, the typical my refreshed EJ is heaps better than my tired old EA82T
EJ22 AU delivered is rated at 130BHP, EA82T AU delivered is rated at 115BHPsteptoe wrote:What sort of torque is new donk rated at? I recall EJ22 and EA82T was about same.
the front end is in the same spot the motor how ever had to be put on 2 inch lift blocks so the alternator aircon pump and PS pump clear the bonnet.steptoe wrote:How much extra weight at the front, sink a bit ?
once again a big thank you to everyone I'm really enjoying the way jetcar is driving now

Ah ha, the whole front crossmember is two inches lower than the body than before then? Doesn't that then change things ground to wheel arch looks etc?TOONGA wrote: the front end is in the same spot the motor how ever had to be put on 2 inch lift blocks so the alternator aircon pump and PS pump clear the bonnet.

Guess that can be fixed - doesn't slow you down like an old EA82T
200% better than a 2 stroke
I did think I read it was EJ25, now confirms EJ22.
Th old HP V's torque thing, HP is measured flat stick, torque is where (most) do their driving - 2800 in the EA82T I think
All this has reminded me of a broken Foz box on the floor of a guy who owes me (and thinks I have forgot) - those casings could come in handy.

well the car is going great but for one nagging problem dun dun dunnadundahhhhhhh...
code 24 = Air Control Valve or Circuit
I took the valve off and cleaned it, cleared the ECU and things were great for about 20 minutes now it is constantly throwing a 24 wobbly.
Sighs ... me needs to find another Air Control Valve and try that

Ah the joys of motoring ... I got a hold of a working idle air control valve and solved that problem. So I went for a drive and while I was out and about I decided to test the diff lock on a limestone track.
It worked beautifully the light came on on the dash I could hear the actuator work, there was a difference in traction and I was really pleased... after a while and a bit of fun I went to turn it off, the light stayed on but the switch was in off mode. hmmmmm me thinks, I pull over and check the vacuum line to the body mounted valve setup before the actuator, all lines in tact.
then I check the lines to the actuator itself, some how one has come off, and of course it is the one that is under the starter motor and my gorilla hands won't get in there. one starter motor and off later the diff lock is working a treat.
