I'm officially a nerd (according to my wife)
RSR 555 wrote: Good points there Jonno but I doubt that motor will be in it too much longer.
it will be in there until the parts have been hobbled together to make the swap (Im hoping sooner than later)

On a vortex note it was 6 degrees down here at 7.30 am when I started it up it idled and after a minute it actually drove and idled :) I think the drive home may have cleared a few cobwebs and dust mites

Talk to Tristan (aka 90Brumby) I'm sure he was talking about removing it so he can fit a dual battery setup.

No probs and good to hear you got the cobwebs out. I feel #2 & #4 would have been pretty gummed up due to those plugs.

My wife thanks you for removing the "evil one" from our household lol. She has had to put away the petrol, long stick and marshmellows.
No she only hated Turbo, she loves my auto vortex.
Cheers Pete

I'm thinking that Brumby90 will be asleep for a while from the look of him in that Photo :)

yeah I'm sure that there would have been a big train of carbon on Tonkin Hwy just after Ranford rd Yesterday afternoon :)

it's now 11am and he's just getting up.. and we are talking softly for him ;)

He said the S/C will be for sale (Shae said the hatch comes with it but I don't think Tristan will allow that), he said he might sell the whole EJ22 setup complete as he's thinking of putting the other EJ22T engine that I have.

Aw... I thought you were going to keep it stock! A bit of true 80's nostalgia!!

Then again, I think it was brett's old vortex that took on a new life as a lifted, EJ'd beast - it was blue with sunroof and a yellow engine bay!

All the best with the new purchase, they're certainly unique!

Cheers

Sacrilege! Sacrilege! Sacrilege! Sacrilege! Sacrilege! Sacrilege!

On a less spammy note:) I changed the HT leads for a set off an EA82 at the wreckers and while my engine is unwell, it is amazing the difference a newer (they are still bright blue) set of leads have made.

Now I just have to treat it kindly until Im ready to make some changes in the engine bay

Howdja make the leads reach #1 and #3 ? I have just measured mine up to be longer than std EA82T as in 1075mm total length for #1 and 1215mm for #3 and they need straight terminals for the dizzy end. Working on eagleproducts to come up with a new listing based on my measures as current listing for 4WD Turbo Vortex is wrong for AWD 4WD Vorts or EA82TS (S is for spider)

the leads were on a multipoint EFI EA82 at the wreckers, all I did was take them of the motor and put them on mine.

Damn.. I never thought about the 22Bs engine as an EJ22T but I guess it's kinda the same :???: The EJ22T (2 off them) are the US market SOHC engines.. not the DOHC ones like the 22B has. I can sell the 22B engine to Tristan but I feel the price may be a little to high for him :)

I would think that the low compression in #1 & #3 would not be fixed with a set of leads... I feel only an EJ will fix this :p

Yeah.. sounds like someone (EP) has not really done their homework??

must have taken a short cut and not followed the originals secure path? May be a good candidate to try a tin of Restore in the oil and see if it fixes up compression
