Well, bought a landcruiser snorkel for 10 dollars.
Figured out parts for a rear diff breather and ordered them as well.

So you found the breather in the end?

And the cruiser snorkel, I'll be keen to see how you get this one to fit!

Cheers

You need to remove the moustache bar, then clean out all the mud/crap that's behind that. It should, from memory, be on the driver's side of the diff's rear plate. It'll pop out with a little force ;)

Fantastic!
Much appreciated Steptoe and El_Freddo! :)

-On the weekend I got some new road tyres, the mud tyres are just too good to punish on the tarmac, so dedicated offroad tyre set exists now!
-Next step is to get the disc brakes on the brumby (partially taken off, waiting on socket for impact wrench to arrive for vortex hubs!), at the same time I will get new suspension fitted and CVs.

Looking at EJ25s.
Only seem to be finding the DOHC or turbo versions though.

Anyone know how much chassis rail modification is required for a DOHC model (99ish)?

Aside from that is it the same as the SOHC?

EDIT: Curious to know how much lift is required before no chassis rail modding is needed???

DOUBLE EDIT: Found two spare front guards to chop! :) will also fit the flares I got from guy.

So today I...

-Ran the hose for rear diff breather to front of car, dummy installed air manifold for diff breather setup also. Ordered the two filters needed which will run up snorkel.

-Fitted the 2nd hand ROLA roof racks I got off eBay for a bargain price.

-Sorted out the courier for the two front guards (that are going to get chopped and snorkel fitted/flares).

Picture of roof racks (excuse the fisheye lens)

EDIT: Bought a UHF which should arrive next week.
Deliberating over suspension setup/lift amounts etc...
Trying to part out the vortex on the odd chance i'm actually home!

EDIT2: (to save on new posts! lol)
-Ordered crossbred lift kit and diff bash plate!
-bought a hilux snorkel due to the cruiser one pissing me off (and it only cost 10 dollars). the hilux onemounts on the passenger side which is preferable for me, and i can use bits from the cruiser snorkel to mix n match if needed. also bought a gutter mount for uhf aerial which will in fact be used to mount snorkel to save drilling holes in pillars!

Sure does mate.
Got the UHF in after work today, in but not tidy so will sort that out tomorrow.

New snorkel is a safari snorkel to suit a hilux 83-88 (P/N:SS65HF)
Used but good condition, looks like I can make it work a lot easier than the cruiser snorkel (but I can use this for parts, maybe airbox also).

Am not cutting guards until lift kits are in...

Things are in motion!

Car is off the road from the 17th May to whenever it takes to finish!

Waiting to go on: strut lift, rear lift conversion also, 2" crossbred body lift, ej 25 sohc, d/r 02 outback gearbox, custom driveshafts, rear disc brake conversion, and the list goes on.....!

trying for everything to be engineered or able to be engineered later on.
