Grumpy is still bit tail happy though, do you have rear sway bar ? It might also help if you put a few sand bags in the back when you race to put a bit more weight there ...

There's no rear sway bar yet, and no sand bags going in the back because keeping weight down and its a fun challenge driving a slightly tail happy car

I was thinking more of a balanced approach however : If you get the weight more evenly distributed / spread over all four wheels, front & rear ( as in a normal situation in the Brumby would be approx. 60 % on the front ) it would be easier to handle ...

So how much does your car weigh ? ( For the best effort - it has to be a total with you included - if you don't mind me asking ) The guys at the track should have scales you can borrow ( ask nicely ). Then you can do the sums to work out how much the rear needs ( I'd estimate approx. 50 to 80 kg ) probably slightly more on passenger side to keep it balanced ...

I would also suggest a more permanent way to mount the weights would be to get some metal plate made ( with correct weight ) that could be bolted to the fame ( lower the better ) which can be adjusted etc. or removed if not needed. Do a bit of testing & see how it goes ...

Don't forget the sway bar too ... !

I think the ute + me (120kg) is about 1000kg, going on the scales at the tip but it is still only a rough guide.
The Grumpy will get a bit more weight when I put a cage in it and the only weight I've left up the back is the tow bar & relocated battery ( mainly for a tow point if the worst happens).

What shocks/suspension are you running up front? Coil overs? Brumby top hats or redrilled strut towers to accept 3 stud?
Standard front swaybar?

The Grumpy has HSD coilovers, a sway bar from an auto MY & custom made strut tops from 4mm plate steel

Here's the different swaybars, brumby top & auto bottom....the auto swaybar gives just enough room to clear the gearbox.

Check out the Addco swaybar available for the front from the US. The bend goes under the exhaust instead of over. Would be heaps larger than the one you're using as well.

Also it was a bit hard to tell from the video, but did the 180sx suffer much damage ?

I haven't done anything with the Brumby this year as work has been very quiet.

The 180sx was a right off, went into the wall nose first at about 60kph. It had a full cage which served it's purpose and the driver walked away.
