And yeah they're keeping me a bit too busy haha, handy that the missus is in Townsville so she doesn't get all uppity about me spending too much time on my other babies

The cap can be changed (but highly unlikely), the best way is to use the engine number but you need to have a very good friend named Andy to chase it down. My best advise would be to ask the guy who fitted it in the car

I'm sure all your subi's will keep you busy! And the RX on 13's doesn't look too dicky - at least not this dicky:
Lifted L's always look better with 27's!
Cheers
Bennie
Haha, that does look a bit... odd
I think the old mate I bought it off said it used to be the promotion car for Scorpion AWD here in Brisbane. But I can't be sure.

Oh really????, I beg to disagree but they are quite happy to punch out 300hp all day in rally cars, my virtually stock EJ20 puts out >280hp and pulls 8,000rpm with ease and has done so for the last 16yrs without hesitation, that's 140hp per liter. :0Subydoug wrote: where the EJ was never meant to be a high performance engine.
I guess what Im trying to say is some of those little iron block straight 4 engines made by companys like toyota and nissan are "better bang for capacity" then the subie engines.
Sorry for the rant, it certainly is a sweet looking beast you got their!

Doug, I think you'll find Tom is talking about the DOHC Turbo EJ engines and not the SOHC EJ22 engine.
From Wikipedia...
EJ22G Turbo DOHC
Horsepower: 280 PS (206 kW; 276 bhp) @ 6000 rpm
Torque: 362.8 N·m (268 lb·ft) @ 3200 rpm
Usage:
Impreza STi 22B GC8 series(JDM)

Meh we were talking about F6Turbo's so same same, yeah it's a Jap STI motor and the standard from the factory figures were >280hp but as 280hp was like a gentleman's agreement all motors whether 280 or 320 were classed as 280hp.
Great motor and 4.44 gearbag combination from 1997.

I'm not even talking about that haha. I just reckon the boxer's go better than inline's of the same displacement as a generality.
Righto, this is the situation with the fuel caps.
This is the underside of the fuel cap on the RX, the raised wheel on the left is a three, and the indented wheel on the right is a 4.
And this is the underside of the cap on Mum's Foz, just got this one for reference, but it isn't the same pattern
Any more ideas? I figure that either means 3rd of '94 or 4th of '93?

There are 2 main types of EJ22 engines for the Legacy/Liberty, think of them as early and late. The early EJ22 was produced from 89 to early 91, then the later models where produced from 91 to late 98. As these engines are all about the same design, it doesn't really matter what year it is other than the early had the smaller grey injectors and the later had the red ones. Wiring harness is different on either one

So if I can get a look at the injectors I'll be fine? Wilco.RSR 555 wrote:There are 2 main types of EJ22 engines for the Legacy/Liberty, think of them as early and late. Also going to degrease the whole engine bay and spray off the engine. Might spray the rocker covers too if they aren't too hard to get off. Any idea how hard that'd be? From an initial look they look somewhat inaccessible

This is a quick way to identify the early or late EJ22. From memory, all of them produced after 1994 had the month/year on the inside of the cap. Also all the EJ22 engines after 1994 had Crank and Cam Angle Sensors without long wires on them.T.Farm.Brumby wrote:So if I can get a look at the injectors I'll be fine? Wilco.

The rocker covers are easy in a Liberty, so I'm thinking they shouldn't be too hard in the L.Series just undo the 3 (10mm sized head) bolts and the covers should just fall off.
