Hi, new to the forums and thought I would show you guys my wagon I just picked up. It was a one owner from an elderly gentleman, still has original receipt of purchase and only 140,000ks on the clock. Could not believe the condition when I saw it and had to snap it up. The interior looks brand new. unfortunately an automatic but that might change down the track. Future plans is probably just rebuilding the original motor and new engine parts just to keep her looking tidy. I have some sunraysias lined up. wouldn't mind a bulbar u see on brumbys so will looking for one in the near future. Air con, power windows and digital dash all working perfectly.

Looks like a beauty mate! All there that's for sure! I did the auto to man conversion in my 82 touring wagon. Heaps better on fuel and a lot nicer gear ratio's.

Thanks mate, yeah I was always looking for a tidy brumby but after seeing this one, I am now a wagon man. not a mm of rust. will be looking into info on the swap down the track. I think that's the way to go. If anyone has any info on any tips and upgrades to keep this a reliable machine than im all ears,

I too did the conversion from auto to manual on my 82 Touring wagon and it is worth doing.
Make sure you check the diff ratio as my auto was a 3.9:1 and the manual was a 3.7:1.
They have to be the same.
I like the fact you don't have metallic paint and the pain in the a@# screw on roof suitcase rack like mine did.
Shop around for bull bars, ie, I recently bought mine for $100 and it replaces the front bumper.
Great car in excellent condition.
Hope everything works on the digital dash. I didn't have to worry about this as the 82 model has the analogue dash which appears to be very reliable.
Spares for things like the interior are hard to get as some of the parts are different to the normal MY' wagons/.sedans so if you find a supply of parts let us know.

yepp definitely want the one that replaces the bumper. love the look of em. will definitely shop around. might not be in the pics but even come with a sunvisor which I thought was pretty funny. doesn't look to bad either. really showing its 30 years old. Yeah I hate dealing with interiors and electronic dashes so im glad the interior is mint. and the digital dash is working great and I hope it stays that way.

I found what I think is a '76 1600 Wagon in my home town and I'm trying to organise freight on a train down to Brisbane but it's in nowhere near the condition that is. Great find

I think vehicles like that are becoming pretty rare & semi collectable.

Yes, keep it under cover and away from sunlight.
Even with seat covers on the rear seats on mine are perishing with age and time even though no one actually sit on them.
Keep up the Armoreral (spelling)on the interior and you may stand a change of keeping things looking good.
Any work you do make sure you send up pics

Yeah a few oil leaks I gotta attend to but other than that probably a rebuild down the track and some sunraysias. I think that will be it and keep it as a weekend cruiser. Want to keep it original as possible.

Yeah cliffalways been garaged its whole life and I will be doing the same. Will post some more pics during the week. Cheers guys

This got me wondering, is there a way to find out how many of a certain car were built, ie, this one, the 1983 MY Touring wagon.
I would also like to know how many of mine were made and/or supplied to Aus, the 82 Touring wagon.
Is there any info on this sort of thing and how to find it ?

So the sun was out and it wasn't raining (don't wanna ruin my detailing work) so I thought I might take her out for a stroll and take some shots.. theres a couple of interior. also after getting stuffed around with the sunraysias I went and bought some chrome wheel trims which finishes off its originality nicely and after all that I think im gonna scrap the bulbar and sunraysias and keep her original.. she is just to nice to touch... maybe in the near future I will get a brumby to beat around the bush in, literally...

Man, that thing looks factory fresh You really scored a gem, I didn't know cars in this condition were still around and in Adelaide no less. Look after it and it should last a good while.

Holy amazballs! You really don't find the ol' MY's in this conditon!

Personally I reckon you'd be foolish to convert this fine example to manual, time will tell, but I reckon in the longer term this would be more valuable kept in original condition undercover where possible.

I think you'll find there will be an upcoming market for these older japanese cars in original condition much like the american market is after their "survivor" muscle cars of the 60s and 70s.

Yeah Bennie I agree she will stay original like I said earlier. No rain aloud for this old girl just nice Sunday stroll on a nice sunny day to keep the engine from seazing up lol. Another 10 years surely will be a collectors item... Time will tell. I am obsessed with this thing
