Rock Apes 91 Brumby

Post by Rock Ape » Sun Oct 27, 2013 11:12 pm

Hi everyone this is my brumby as yet unnamed. I bought it of guyph's bro about a year ago so it has already got some nice goodies. Ej22, 4inch lift, 5 speed and a few other bits and bobbies.

Image

Im hoping to go 5 stud down the track but for now I have these in the post
http://www.tyretrader.com.au/kumho-27x8 ... kl71-p1578
price seems right i'll let you know if they arrive!

Image

I've got these as I had a wrong size spare and ended up having to leave the brumby in the bush after a side wall puncture after a trip out to two rocks. This pic was taken off some german tourists who were kind enough to pick me up on the track and drop me off to where my brumby was stranded (taken on there gopro) Alas ive decided to run 2 sets so I still need 2 more 14inch sunnies if anyone has some laying about!

Image

so what have I done? not much really just a tidy up of the stereo and a/c compressor.

Image

Image
yes that is the missus merc in the background im yet to convert her but it's in the works
Image

The head unit and 6x9s where a straight swap but I love that Bluetooth and the unit was only $150 from jb

The tank was in shabby knick so I sanded etched and sprayed it and bolted it in so it isn't flapping the in breeze. I wasn't going to put a toolbox in but I got sick of all the crap behind the seats. The stupid looking light is only there for the shooting trip coming up then its off very bright though good for those tailgaters.

next job is to find a standard air box as Paul tells me the air filter setup isn't as good as it should be.

Image

Next pics are hopefully the 27s on and some shooty pics from dongra!

Oh and if anyone has any ideas for a sturdy spare mount lemme know. I noticed jeffs had his on the tailgate......

i'll hopefully meet some of the wa boys on a jaunt as soon as I can detach the ball and chain for a day!

cheers

Sweet tyres. They will work great on the tracks down near TOONGA's place and on the shooting farm. They won't be too good on the beach but you can have a second set of road tyres that will be great for beach work and everyday driving.

I wouldn't be telling or showing anyone that pic.. you'll be banned for life. I guess you can blame it on the missus :p She really needs a brand new Foz though

Yeah bro.. way too much under bonnet heat for my liking. I should have showed you the yellow car's setup. I think it works great but you will need to shift the battery to the other side (or fit up where the air cleaner is now?)

More than likely it was their intention but who the hell would put a bonnet scoop on a naturally aspirated engine?? Just looks gay.. lol

Definitely not.. I'm sure others will have some good names for her

Replaced the plugs today first time on the ej and didn't realise how deep they

are. Used all my extensions and they where pretty bad!

Bought some bosch fusions cos they sound cool but it seems to have a bit more pull. Could be my imagination though!

HEY!!!! My bro used to love her too!!!!

The pod was up there so less sand would get stuck on it and would not get wet if we ever cross a river..., never actually happened.

I have two 14 here but they are not the sunraysia type a very weird looking but they are 14's.

Also, on issue we used to have with the air comp is after a few months the compressor itself would fail, specially if he didn't oil it. As they are not made to run dry they eventually fail. I have one or two, well maybe five here so when you come for the side steps remind me and i'll give u a spare or two:)

I like the sound of that. Let me show you the EJ intake pipe setup on the yellow wagon, then you'll see how much nicer a custom snorkel will be :)

I do have brumby fever I wasn't the same after my first one passed away when I forgot to pay the rego and had to put it over the pits. Knocked back for too much rust.

Then this one popped up and I HAD to have it!

I reckon the Pajero snorkel everyone's using would be the go. But you'll have to cut the support arm up the front of the guard about halfway between the strut and behind the head lights.

The usual bending will be required IMO. I checked out my snorkel against the brumby (with out the guard fitted) and the above is what I found out. I don't know exactly how the snorkel would sit against the side of the guard - something to investigate further!
