Well I picked this car up for 1800 dollars April 2014. 173 000 kms on the clock and no rust. However at the time it was leaking from the cam seals, rocker covers, sump gasket and oil pump. It also had a rusted out exhaust, stuffed rack ends, 2 crappy wheel bearings, Leaking carby, worn ball joints and the vacuum control module on the automatic transmission had a hole in the guts of it it leaking fluid into the manifold. Plus most of the vacuum hoses had become crusty.

And here it is scored it for a good price
has a little bit of rust repair needed and a new gas strut then its all good
The car has now since had an automatic gear box flush/service and a new vacuum control module.

For the Future.......I have a leaking power steering rack and pump to fix and the lower ball joints then its a 2 inch lift kit and either some MTs or ATs on the 14s.

and down the line a stronger bull bar that is winch compatible. and some recovery points fitted to the rear.
Maybe an EJ or a turbo EA82s. Haven't decided yet.

Nice story. I like the attention to detail in whiting out the neighbours plates as well as your own ! The power steering pump seals is quite an easy job with seals n bits from Subaru. I think the range is limited to two pumps, early L and later L. As far as the rack - SCA sell a Lucas brand of PS leak fixer in a white plastic bottle about $14 - used it many times in these old girls, only ever top up with it - fixed
