Finally some progress on the engine

Post by Gannon » Wed Apr 25, 2007 8:21 pm

Ive been working on my EA82T (4plug ecu) for a while now and it is finally nearly finished

List of mods...
Acid dipped/cleaned and bored/ shaved the block
New oversize pistons/rings
Recon heads
New gaskets throughout
New waterpump
Flowed and cleaned injectors

My intention is a relaible, smooth running engine.

Future mods (in this order)
2.5" turboback exhaust
Liberty WAIC
No more that 10psi boost
Xtreme Rx's turbo powerpipe (depends on funds)
Maybe a TF035 turbo.

I will take pics soon

Then to the car im thinking some Scorpian wheels and larger road tyres, a bullbar and roofracks
But that mite take time...
DAMN APPRENTICE WAGES!

Yeah it had 2 blown HG's and watermarks in 2 cylinders. Thats why i had to get it bored.

It has been a slow project cos i had to travel to work on it, but now i have my own shed, i can work on it every night.

Fury, do you still have that FSM? if you could photocopy the engine wiring diagram, or even tell me what pins the WGDS connects to, it would be greatly appreciated. And will need a reciept from you to say where i bought it from?

Pics soon

it is a good feeling ain't it . my EA82T is at the stage where today i hunted every-bloody-where for the copper washers for turbo water and oil banjos

hint. Diesel service tech places are about the only shot

and next time I am at a field day and spot a $10 grab pack of copper washers I am gonna buy it.

Like my boost gauge? Looks almost like it was supposed to fit there.

I have to admit, the excitement is growing, it has been a long time in the making.

Fury, Do i need it in origional form with a signature? Email or pm if its not, but if i need the origional, please post it. Cheers

Wow nice looking motor, looks like its straight out of a showroom floor subaru!

I don't aggree with the mounting of the boost guage tho...looks like its supposed to be there? I think it couldn't look more out of place plonked in the middle of 4 dashboard button blanks....but each to their own :)
Can I suggest maybe removing the 4 button blanks and replacing them with 1 carefully cut piece of dark blue plastic perhaps..

Can't wait to see car driving anyways.

Toyota 105 Series LandCruiser (that nobody on here wants to really hear about).
RX Touring Wagon - fitted out for 4WDing (currently collecting dust).
RX Project - will be road only at this stage (and currently taking way to long to finish).

nice :) to see I am not the only one anal :( about putting a clean motor in a clean engine bay before getting mud all over it :) :)

i use a collection of washing drums ( 44 gallon cut down to 100mm high) stainless steel sieve for dunking nuts and bolts in s/s dog dish of degreaser, 6 inch grinder wire wheel, dremel style wire brushes, toothbrushes,

like to think i preserve metal pipes by painting in hammertone to seal in rust

A TIP: before play spray WD40 or the like all over COLD engine and bay, top and under, after play the pressure washers work is a lot easier done

well i have an xg pannelvan and as it looks right now it is definatly a cool cruiser and i was going to sell the subaru to fund putting an efi v8 in it... but i have decided against that well i havent but numerous people have talked me out of it... one being my father but i can only assume that is becasue he loves the subaru... and i have spent a fortune on it so why sell it ( i have ripped out 3 mounts in the body due to the lift kit)

so the idea is ... i need all the bolts to return the car back to stock height put some rubber on my 15x7 rims in have in my shed and lower it... a posability

and rebuild the motor which needs some love.... but also make it stronger and go harder would like 130kw reliable has 115 atm maby a bit more with the intercooler... key things that need replacing or up sizing are the injectors as i am maxing them out at 4500rpm...

also i love the car and it is definatly fun to drive compared to the cruisy pannelvan....

I wasnt being all that truthful when i said my boost gauge looked stock, but i put it there cos it is easy to read and i didnt need a pod tp mount it.

The cost of rebuild has blown out a little more than i had expected, in the vicinity of $1700.

Injectors, PCV hoses and intake are on. Now i attack the wiring

Anyone got some spare timing belt covers?
