My project build. Twin Turbo and 6" of pleasure

Post by Fatz » Sun Apr 29, 2007 2:49 pm

Thought id post up my plans and progress of my L series offroader.
To start with i have a L series Sedan with some goodies on it including 5 stud conversion., ej22 and 3" lift kit.
I also have a L series wagon with a ea82T and rear disc brakes.
My plans are to swap the 5 std gear from the sedan into the wagz and 4 stud from wagz to sedan. Then sell the sedan, and put a 6" lift under the wagon, EJ20TT it and put some 31" muddiez under it.
This weekend johnny (bluesteel) came up to help me with the swaperoo.
Started off well.
I already had the wagon up on stands and some rear drive line off.
Saturday we got the rest of the gear off the wagon, and took everything out from the sedan and did the swap. (Thanx Johnny)
Anyway. here are some progress pics. (including the ultimate disaster pics:(:()

LOL thats all ill say

Then i decided to do something VERY stupid. I took the sedan for a quick spin too see how we did.. We didnt bleed the brakes, which i knew needed to be done, but i couldn't wait. So i took it out of the drive way and went around the corner, came back up the driveway, and completley forgot about the brakes.... Had a brain freeze and drone into my wagon which was still on the jack stands.... Knocked it off the stand and did some damage to the under body.. I can tell you i wasn'f happy at all. Not to mention i felt like and absolute ****wit. So here are some pics of the damage.

Standing proud of what he did. Naughty Subaru!

Yea, poor wagon, just be thankful no one was under her when you hit her!!!

so why are you putting it all into the wagon instead of upgrading the sedan? do you want the wagon???

Good luck with the swap,
cheers,
ian

Im changing over the stud pattern for the bigger brakes.
I like how the sedan goes, i just dont think it is very practical for offroad.. I would like more space, and i love the wagons.

swapping to a wagon because ive had enough of the lack of space for luggage and spare parts when going on camping trips.
And i think wagons are sexier. I bought the sedan with the intention of using the parts for a wagon, i just never got around to it until now.

I second this. Glad your not ashamed enough not to show your mistake... Could have been worse, the wagon could have gone through the back of the shed ripping off the open tailgate...

A hammer will sort out the floor pan ;)

Keep up the good work (and that L wagon)

one of those lessons in life you remember coz it was self taught

pics remind me of a mate who was under a Cortina on stands removing a gearbox when the earthquake hit Newcastle....

Poor Little Wagon :(

I really love the look of your sedan too; If I lived closer I would consider taking it off your hands... :)

hehehe... Merry Christmas!

I take it the auto doesn't matter? - did you buy it purposly as an auto or are you just after the engine and loom?

Looks good either way, it'll look better in the L ;) Have fun.
