my ej20t 1984 1800 wagon

Post by slipps » Wed Jul 25, 2007 9:21 pm

so i finally picked up my ej20t 84 wagon, never ownd a subaru , nor do i know much about them but i am willing to learn.
it runs a ej20t on 11psi ,water to air, gearbox , vented brakes , and diffs centers from a 1991 liberty rs , also 16 inch wrx wheels ,surge tank, and a microtech ltx8.
bit of rust but nothing unfixable.

my plans are get the body fixed up ,shave most of the badges, upgrade the turbo, fix any mech problems, bring the interior back to full stock , slamm it , and drive it.

i paid 4000 for it, is this a resonable price?

i'll be putting up photos as soon as i can.

ill be asking some tech questions real soon.

by the way i posted some question before stating this was a 1987 wagon, disregard them.

cheers.

Running a gearbox hey? Not many cars have those, thats insane.

Just kidding sounds great, $4000 is a steal. Sort of wish I had just gone bought an already converted one. So much cheaper.

Pictures please.

Hi sounds like a great little sleeper!

I'd say best bet would be to get an RS turbo or WRX diff in there as they are designed for the power as standard.
Theres a few ways to do this....custom shafts with EJ inners or modify the snap-ring groove to fit the EJ stub axel assemblys in etc.

ok so i thought i give a little up date , i have had problems with the peddle box and the clutch not getting enough throw , but all fixed now as i have a new peddle box in there and very well done custom job done. clutch gets lots of throw. also i have installed a cd player and boost gauge. rear diff mount was worn so ive had it replaced. (clucking has gone!) overall service was done oil change , rad flush , sparkies. new pod filter was put on and is breathing very happy.
also sourced some newish interior parts that made bring it back to life a bit.

car is running better than ever and what im most amzed about was the fuel consumption i got over the week , 442 kms out of a 43ltr petrol tank ,of course it was on 98 octane. but i was extremley amazed , some highway driving some city. go ej20t power.
