Yes, very nice wagon and it has been fun (with some jealousy) to watch it evolve to what it is now. It was great to see it in the flesh and in action last year, just capped it all off for me, well done mate!

I'll get there one day, unless i get side tracked with a brumby... hmm... brumby.

I didn't know you had a liberty power steering rack, was that hard to fit?

And i'd like to know more about the strengthened underbody - something i'd like to look into. I'll defentely be making a bash plate for the fuel tank (its taken 2 beatings now - not intentionally)...

Once again, good work.

thanks Bennie.

heres the thread about the rack

showthread.php?t=7989&highlight=power+s ... ack&page=2

strengthened underbody is only because it pulled all the radius rod captive nuts out. Its now much much stronger than the original.

As a note to anyone fitting a liftkit, id highly recommend strengthening this area before putting the liftkit in. It takes probably the most strain out of the whole car. It took almost 2 years for all mine to rip out and its very dis-heartening when it happens, and it eventually will.

Got any pics or descriptions as to what's involved with this work?

Cheers

its pretty much identical. The l-series lines that connect either end of the rack go strait into the liberty rack (you need to use the l-series lines bacuse the liberty ones foul the xmember)

you also need to use the l-series tie rod ends, the liberty ones dont allow for enough wheel alignment adjustment.

They even bolt up through the same mounts etc. We couldnt believe it!

the wheel carrier is still to be modded, as it was originally custom made for Mike's MY i believe.

cannon doesnt cop much, im careful for it, but i can see it taking a knock soon. But its worth the awesome note it produces :)

You mean you like the drone the canon makes, 90% of the note is from the exhaust...

Personally i wouldn't have the canon, but then again, i'm not as attracted to shiny things as you are alex :p

Gday Alex, just wondering if your spotties in front of the reverse lens are joined to the wiring there, or do you switch em on independent of the parkers? If they are independently switched do you get any grief from the plod (cops) about them, as with forward mounts having to be hooked into high beam?

Posted: Tue Feb 12, 2008 8:03 pm
by Alex
they are all independently switched. I have the rears hooked up directly to the battery so the ignition DOESN'T have to be on.

The fronts use to be hooked up to the high beam, but i had troubles with them "sticking" on after you had turned the high beam off. So they are now independently switched. The spotties are the least of my worries from the cops.
