i agree with at least the captcha method- even if it is old- but thats as long as its in registration, not posting-as that gets very annoying like on myspace etc.
i dont really like the donation idea, i think it will get rid of many new users- which we dont seem to get many of anyways i reckon. plus it may cost some people an extra charge of a dollar or two just to pay over the net- no matter the amount.
would it help if there were more admin/moderators on the boards to help weed out the spammers?

I have been thinking that for a while now. It seems as though quite a few of our current moderators aren't visiting as much these days and it may be time to ask them if they want to pass on their job.would it help if there were more admin/moderators on the boards to help weed out the spammers?
Having said that there is no way of knowing who is a genuine user or who is a spammer when looking at an email address and requested user name. I have been getting about 10% of them wrong. This I know because I have had quite a few emails from people complaining that they "don't fit the bill" for our site once they get the not welcome email.
