Loose new post icons -cookies?

When I view the board, I can usually see new posts or replies by the respective icon.

When I check my messages or post a reply etc, I loose that ability to see those posts unread by icon.

Is this a cookie thing? I seemed to remember Suba Mike having a similar prob.

The problem that I had and still have is that the unread post icons dissapear when I leave the board before having read all the new posts, solution , don't leave the board till compleatly read
