Everytime I try to post up my ad in the For Sale Classifieds section it tells me I can't make a post within 30 seconds..

Any ideas why?

Subscriptions
Unfortunately due to the amount of spam and bot users of late we have had to bring in a Subscription service for posting on the board. While there is now a fee it is very minimal.

That excuse is the biggest crock of $hit i've ever heard, you're trying to slowly line your pockets with a pitiful excuse.

If that is the case why do members have to re-subscribe? Have they not already proved they're not a spambot??

Are you even aware of the capabilities of the forum software you use??

(and just throwing it out there, to prove i'm not a spambot.. I was a member on byb and on here since 2001. Some of you may remember me better as NAliberty)

it does it to me on the occasion its just my intramanet server is being a mcf*&^k maybe you should try that before losing your rocker

I don't mean to be an a$$hole, just stunned that i've had to pay to be a member and can't post!

I was an administrator on http://www.performanceforums.com for years and have never seen such a lack of response to an issue. (and no one has even sweared at me yet, i'm feeling a bit unloved)

The forum uses Vbulletin, it's a forum software program. It has built in software that can get rid of spambots etc before they even join, and yet we still pay a subscription for no actual administration? I know I may seem a little pedantic to some of you, but it's pretty simple internet stuff!

While paying a subscription to some guy who is realistically probably only putting the money towards hosting the site is reasonable, it'd be a little more upfront and manly if he actually admitted to that rather than using the farce of avoiding spambots as his reasoning for taking money.

Who is the head administrator here? Why hasn't he reared his head in this thread already? I've never dealt with a forum admin who hasn't posted within a day! Does he even post on this site??

Does he not post because he's been called out? Should I make his server crash every second day for a week to get his attention? (once again it's simple internet stuff, I think it's time he mans up and explains himself)

Well if you have a problem with this site you dont have to stay, "just saying"

i cant say iv dealt with any admin we have a few select mods who do as much as they know how to or can with their priveledges but i can understand why your not happy just do what i do post it in non classified and and a mod will move it... and the mods are hard at work that spambot shit is quite common here

this website is still run by the BYB boys, they havent got the time and we are very close to being self administrating.
The will come, likely delete this thread and possibly your account. Paying to host is for a number of reasons, it pays for the server status (i believe you pay once and stay forever) thus we need a constant turn over to pay the bills, other wise it comes out of admins pocket.
Second some people have been known to use the forum for buisness, more the sales part of things, while i dont think its wrong i do feel its best somone making genuine money puts it back into the community.
The last thing is that its less about the spambots and what not, they suck but most get stuck, what is a pain in the ass is people who come to either download what we know without sharing a name or come post up loads of crap they have for sale and then leave, again they put back into the community they basically use for personal gain.

HA! spike knows all and you arent a mod why ?... did you know its $20 for ten yrs membership i found that out today... why would you even bother complaining about that hahaha i have so many things considered more of a waste that cost $20

I've been here for a few moths now and I don't see an issue. Membership is only a couple of dollars. I too got the same message about the 30 seconds, but a few days later my ad came online. I'm more than happy with the few dollars I have spent here, Ive sold stuff, met some great people, learned heaps, and have had great advice from the other members.
