Thread Title Links ...

Post by Bantum » Tue Oct 23, 2012 12:54 am

Hi Moderators,

Have been trying to link 'Titles' to 'Headings' in pages of Subaru Engine List. I did a bit of searching and found this :
Overview :

HTML anchors are links that allow you to jump to a specific place within a document. This is very handy for long documents that have headings or other sections of interest to the reader. Typically, the top of the document contains a set of links to each section, and you need only to click one of those links to jump to the desired location on the page.

Anchors would be just as useful in forums for those who want to make long posts, perhaps for tutorials, forum guidelines or similar types of posts. Since most, if not all vBulletin license holders do not allow HTML in their forums, here is way to create anchors using bbcode instead of HTML.

I have also been experimenting here & have found 'Title Linking' is not currently enabled or is broken ...

In order for it to work, you may need to add / fix this to your 'allowable' bb Code list ... ;)

I think this is what's needed :
Title: Anchor link
Tag: jumpto
Replacement: <a href="#{option}">{param}</a>
Example: [jumpto=aname]This takes you to a new location within a post[/jumpto]
Description: The [jumpto] tag allows you to jump to another location within a post, usually used for long posts with headings and/or sections of interest. This tag <b>must</b> be used in conjunction with the [aname] tag. One is not functional without the other.

Title: Named anchor link
Tag: aname
Replacement: <a name="{option}">{param}</a>
Example: [aname=aname]This is where you jump to[/aname]
Description: The [aname] tag is used in conjunction with the <a href="#jumpto">[jumpto]</a> tag.
One is not functional without the other.

Can this be Done / Fixed to 'Link' Titles ... ?

Cheers, Bantum.

Link Fix ...

Post by Bantum » Wed Jan 08, 2014 8:12 am

Hi Mods / Site Admin,

Following is a request to fix the header links :

The fault is the banner / mast head is supposed to have selectable links to each section - currently it does not work ( query was, has it ever worked ? not since I've been here any way ) eg:

The properties of the graphic object reveal URL address is this : 7M-Chrom3/header_07.gif

& looks like this : ImageImage etc ...

But if you try & select them, they has no place to 'goto' ... :(

Possible Solutions :
  • Edit the code to point them in right direction ...
  • Leave as is ... ( not very satisfactory )
  • Delete the said section all together ...
Any of the above would need the site owner's approval I'd Guess ... :)

Ciao, Bantum ...

Thanks Jan,

I just realised ( thanks to Bennie ) that there is also another 4 different 'style' platforms to work from ...

Do note that the above comments were based on 'Chrom3', so will have to see what works on the others ... :)

Cheers, Bantum ...
