The government tax on fuel.

This is where face to face talk is better than , words on a screen . facal actions and voice tones explain more .

Government is a business in the way that every dollar that goes out, has to got back .

If you go out to buy a shockie for your car , and the price of steel has gone up . who covers the difference in cost of making it . I bet it isnt the steel company.

Sounds like me filling up my fuel tank. I love driving my car yet don't like the fuel price but fill up anyway cos I need/really want it.

Seems that "Xenophobic old man Howard" and that disgusting Mr Costello may just have been doing things right.

I don't really agree with that. I feel that things were starting to go pear shaped before the election. Howard and co just have the convienence of blaming Rudd for whats happened. I don't believe an economy can contiunally grow without bottoming out at some stage. I've been waiting for a slow down and possibly a backward step (or few) in the economy. If you know something you've build up is going to fall over in politics you don't stick around to see that happen...

Rudd really needs to find his feet, and he'd better do it soon.

Slightly off topic, they had a survey on tv the other morning,
as to what price petrol would get to, before you stopped driving and take public transport.
Some even went as high as $2.20. To bad for us that have to drive our tools to work, or public transport is not available. I am really worried as how much we will pay out west.

I dont agree with this either - how long can Rudd go on blaming the former government for the woes in the economy. All swings and roundabouts I am afraid and as much as I despised him, Costello had the right idea with his budgeting. What he said at the Press Club 2 weeks prior to the election rings true - we shouldnt have a surplus. A good budget will have a ZERO balance - all monies expended and accounted for with a little in the war chest for later.

C'mon Mr Swann - show us your street cred and show us the light you so bragged about election eve...

I am off my soap box. I really dont care who is in - as long as I get paid every fortnight I am happy!!

A little boy goes to his dad and asks, 'What is Politics?'

Dad says, 'Well son, let me try to explain it this way:

I am the head of the family, so call me The Prime Minister.

Your mother is the administrator of the money, so we call her the Government.

We are here to take care of your needs, so we will call you the People.

The nanny, we will consider her the Working Class.

And your baby brother, we will call him the Future.

Now think about that and see if it makes sense.'

So the little boy goes off to bed thinking about what Dad has said.

Later that night, he hears his baby brother crying, so he gets up to check on him.

He finds that the baby has severely soiled his nappy.

So the little boy goes to his parent's room and finds his mother asleep.

Not wanting to wake her, he goes to the nanny's room. Finding the door locked, he peeks in the keyhole and see's his father in bed with the nanny.
He gives up and goes back to bed.

The next morning, the little boy say's to his father, 'Dad, I think I understand the concept of politics now.'

The father says, 'Good, son, tell me in your own words what you think politics is all about.'

The little boy replies, 'The prime Minister is screwing the Working Class while the Government is sound asleep.

The People are being ignored and the Future is in deep shit.'

No need to mention it again. Have been thinking about it since the last week of Nov 2007. At the rate we are going, we'll be lucky if it's ONLY a recession.
