only for cold climate members....

Post by steptoe » Mon Jun 07, 2010 11:15 pm

The others can but laugh at us.
Been looking for a warm top, a polar fleec hoodie not full zip, and do you think anywhere sells them? NOPE, nyet, nada, no way Jose.

Polar fleece, not just fleecy cheapy stuff
No full zip (scratches stuff and becomes a cardigan in my mind)
Half zip OK
hood, for keeping shoulders warm when not on head

If you see this sort of combo, I'd love to know where, what brand, etc

Jonno

warm climate members who had to look can stop sniggering, it was minus 3 this morn.

Go to http://www.backcountry.com. MUCH cheaper than in OZ, and full range of cold clothes (maybe not right now as its summer over there).

How does a Parka Jacket that you can put over a T-shirt and go out to -50c weather sound?

We don't have cold weather down under. -3 is nothing. Have a look on eBay Canada and you'll find some decent REAL cold weather clothing cheap. Watch out for shipping from Canada though, it's a fair bit more than the USPS.

Sorry dfoyl, but NEVER buy clothes like that from eBay. They are all knock offs and are no good compared to the proper thing sold by reputable online stores.

Yeah, what's a coupla degrees. But then there is windchill factor . I want my brain to function as well - hence the hood. Love how polar fleece - the real stuff from Malden Mills wears, dries quickly just all the designers are mising the practicality factor unles there is a construction problem with getting a hood to work with the rest of it.

Ah, man, to find a woman with the skills ya mum had ! Might have to go hang around the haberdasheries and make a trade....

Hoods are annoying, just wear a beanie or a balaclava.

Just take it off before you walk into your local bank, you may get arrested

Of my specs being polar fleece, no zip (half zip acceptable) hood and a comfy fit and not outrageous price...

Katmandu got none, surf shop got none, backcountry link (thanks) nope most are zipped , plain hoods no zip just fleece not polar fleece.

A snuggie huh ?? It not got a hood in your pic Gannon - is that you in some snowbound wilderness holiday?

Jonno, - Just make sure you buy Berghaus kit.
Dont look anywhere else - JFDI !
Its the dogs wotsits.
Its warm - it washes - it lasts - it looks good in the pub - the girls will think ur cool. Yet you will be hot!
Not the cheapest but will out last the cheap stuff many times.
I have had this kit - fleeces, storm coats, tops and hats for many years.
Without them I would have died from hypothermia.

Also recommend that you go beanie / hat route - hoodies get caught in the trees an stuff - can kinda yank your neck a bit!
Way to go mate!

Google it and I am sure you will have it in OZland somewhere. Let me know if ur stuck.
Cheers
Giles.

Problem solved!! Thanks for the input and references and offers of assistance.

I decided that the green snuggie made Gannon such a good looking rooster I should do the same, improve my image and the like, you know :)

Actually bright light bulb switched on, I bought a coupla cardigan styles, polar fleece, with hoods and full zips, thinking glass half full/ half empty. That zip, is either a full zip or three quarters of silicone and a few stitches, and I have ....ta da.... a quarter zip polar fleece hoodie

pics later when I retrain....

Jonno
