Don't use this at school but its a good story. And its dead set true. Probably should be on the joke page. Many years ago I owned and ran a tour boat on the Thomson river at Longreach in Outback Qld, We got all sorts on the boat and it was often booked out for private functions. One Aussie millionaire used to take his best sales people to the Mt Isa Rodeo and gave them a night out on our boat on the way through. We were cruising along the river with plenty of food and grog and they were getting right into it and of course, the millionaire host was the centre of attention. One of his young hotshot salesman asked him what was the secret to his success. He said do you wanna know, well come in closer. They all gathered in waiting for his great words of wisdom and as I was driving the boat, I craned my neck in to see how this fellow had made it big. When they all were in close, and everything went quiet, he looked at them all with bleary eyes, hanging onto the roof to steady himself with one hand and the other holding a cold stubbie and said very clear and distinct. ""Never trust a fart" I thought it was one of the funniest things I had seen and heard and nearly ran the boat into the trees. He had sucked them all in , me included. Now that's dead set true but don't tell that at school and don't ask me who he was. I'll tell you one day, but not on the internet.

I Live by this quote........and it has worked well for me

Post by 1111giles » Fri Jul 16, 2010 7:29 am

NOTHING VENTURED.....NOTHING GAINED.

When I was about 5 - I spluttered this out to my Dad - who was just about to call it a day, once when we were out scouring local scrap yards for items we could buy do up and sell for a profit.
He took my advice - we called at another yard and found a gold mine of goodie items to do up and sell (electric motors, pumps etc sort of stuff)
He made some good profit thanks to my words. How or why a 5 year old knew those words has been a source of discussion ever since!

We both from that day forward have applied that quote......and its served us very well.

Good luck with your School work! :)

The more you learn, the more you should realize, you didn't know in the first place.

People need to take more responsibility for there own actions.

The best things in life are free.

Just because you think it, doesn't mean it is right.
