Lookin' on the brighter side.....

Post by steptoe » Sat Feb 19, 2011 2:21 am

I was talking to a girl last night who possessed some pretty massive scars on one arm. They ran from wrist to elbow on upper and underside, a result of bad accident, and surgery for correction etc. Scars about 10mm wide. She was telling how her thumb is stuck solid in safe tucked away position held in place by muscle. Her index finger can stand to attention but not retract (flexion/adduction stuff) due to condition.

One day she is out waiting for her bus to come along, she signals driver as you do, and bus sailed by. She looks at her hand she is waving at driver. Brain was telling her to fist up and stick thumb out, brain was telling that thumb was out, but in fact was still tucked up in her palm. While she tried to make the thumb out fist, three fingers folded into fist leaving that index finger out plain as day needing some help to fold in. She quickly realised her hand signal was giving driver 'the bird'

Ok...

Is there more to this story that you forgot to post?

Cheers

Funny you mention that coz yes I did forget...given how disabled she appears to be due to more injury she carries - she could see the funny side of something that has affected her for some years, and most likely permanent disability. i reckon if I have a bad day I'll be reminding self of her attitude towards life
