Jonno - we have a Honda walk behind mower the type with adjustable height wheels its got a single flymo type blade underneath. Collection bag at the back.

What we do and it says in the hand book to do this - is raise up the cutting height to maximum max revs from the 4 stroke engine and the sucking effect acts as a very effective leaf clearer !
The leaves are mulched into a very compact waste which can be disposed of as part of the compost cycle.

Two garden products in one package !

For tricky areas we either sweep out the courners of use a shoulder strap held blower / sucker 2 stroke unit with bag. (can get heavy on shoulder tho)

Thanks. I guess you image google Victa, that is what you get - and a lot of them!!
Was thinking mower could do a good job but if trying to add it as a service do not want someone to think they could do it themselves with their own mower

, rather turn up with specific and expensive looking machine to suck and mulch while adding some exhaust to the environment. Good start, thanks fellas

I wouldnt think thats a risk Jonno - if they are employing a gardener to do the work they could do themselves - I doubt they care what kit you use to save them their time ! If I were you I'd save your own brass ($) and use what you have (may have) for the job - it works well enough = more $ for Jonno

You do make a valid point there. My 158cc mower with 5 whole foot pounds of torque (5 torques in Clarkson speak) has a great deal more oomph and shred abilty than many others who buy the cheaper winded little mowers.

Hey Jonno ! I just keep several windows open whilst working from home and flick about from site to site - I find it actually helps me have thinking time about the serious day work stuff !. I dont work for my dad any longer, we kinda work together ! The machine tool stuff is the no1 bread earner for me now, all the other stuff I do pays for all my toys !:mrgreen:

unless you get 1 with a cloth bag there very dusty. mine hade like a mesh bag and the dust was unberable . but there not to bad for cleaning up leaves n stuff.

Jeepers, Julian - you do some good finds on the 'net !! I do not possess the skills or access to machinery for makin' my own (should have been an industrial arts teacher afterall!) Although I do have a few spare donks , a horrorzontal drive Tecumseh 3HP? and an EJ16 quadrazontal - but its as heavy as buggery! Local hardware dropped a leaflet today with the Victa model featured with a price drop aparently - from $229 down to the price we have all seen anyway - $199 (think I se through their plot already)

May have to do some sniffin' around for sale stuff or do what Mr Giles suggests - just use the lawnmower.

I guess all you really need do is create a windstorm on a pushable frame with an outshoot and lips at the front - you may have started something here.....

the trick is the search engine you use and the queries you make

this site http://search.yippy.com/ is a meta search engine it searches other search engines (google yahoo etc) as well as web pages

the queries I make are normally simple and unless needed leave out brand names

so a search for EJ16 pin outs, I would use subaru EJ16 pin outs. as dimarzio guitar strings make EJ16 nickel guitar strings, and from memory Ibanez make an EJ16 of some sort.

and for this search I typed in leaf vacuum plans and then went through the about 3 pages until I found a suitable thread
