Old vs New For Sale section

Post by SuBaRiNo » Sat Oct 29, 2005 3:23 pm

Is the new set up for the For Sale and Wanted Section anoying anyone else??

I prefer the way the old forum was set up for the Market section... was much easier to see who has stuff for sale... and knowing who, was a quick way of realising where it was located and if u knew the person.

Also i don't think the new market place items are shown as "New Posts Since Last Visit" So unless i am specifically looking for something i don't even visit the market place section at all.

Is this frustrating anyone else? I do realise there would have been reasons for the change and i am mearly one bleep on the radar so what i say doesn't really count for anything.

Me Four.

I preferred it being in the forum style, made it easy to communicate with the buyer/seller and could use the "new posts" link to easily see any new stuff for sale.

The former, can we 'adjust' this one?

I don't like the new style either but some thing had to be done about the mess the old style was. I have added new forum sections to include the old style for the time being. Once I work out a better alternative I will trial it.

The idea is to minimize the size of the forums as I have had a lot of complaints in the past about the web site speed. Keeping things precise and neat has kept it fairl quick so far but it is slowly getting worse.

The olde one was so much easier to use. So I vote for the old one. I didn't have any complaints about the web site speed, then I do have broadband

If you wanted to avoid a bit of congestion you could make an independant forum based on the same setup just for a market place.

How would every one feel about that?

No, I like it in the actual Index.

It's not to say that we can't cut out some of the under-used forums?

I really like the new board, I reckon Brett's done a great job of re-organising stuff, thinking really laterally. Now it's just going to be a matter of going through one day in the future and "pruning".

Website speed shouldn't be affected by the size of the forums. Speed is based on the load of the server the website runs from. (Open to corrections)

I think there is a caching module for nuke that creates static pages for most things which would speed it up a lot.

maybe the unique thing about a "for sale" forum is that you want to keep the forsale items in date order maybe ? rather than jumping to the top because someone posted in the topic.............
