EA81 engine oil

The engine oil in the EA81 needs changing.
For years I have used Castrol or Valvoline or the like oils (just basic everyday oils)
Does anyone have a preference for certain engine oils for the earlier EA engines and if so why.
I don't mind paying a reasonable amount of cash if there is a benefit of some sort.
