Cig Lighter to boat battery

Post by daveosubi » Thu Jan 31, 2008 10:38 am

A mate has a tinnie and wants to hook up a simple cig lighter to it, he gave us the socket to wire up for him. Just wondering what sort of fuse I should use, I was thinking of a 10amp but doing some searching, it seems most run between 10 and 20 amp.

It will only be used to run a spotlight, which is also fused but im not sure what rating it is.

Any sugestions?

Most in Subarus seem to be 10amp and is usually not enough to power accessories. I'd suggest you find how many watts the spotlight is and work it out from there. if it's 100 watts then you can get away with a 10amp fuse - just. Any more and I'd be looking for 15 or 20 Amp.
