Red light camera

Post by ChPLAT » Sun Jan 20, 2008 2:46 am

I am so annoyed right now. I was coming home and got done by a red light camera. I was distracted by some dudes looking suss at 2 am in an empty car park and couldn't stop in time without slamming on the brakes and skidding as I was in the Brumby which slides like butter on a hotplate. I was so angry that I didn't bother calling the cops or anything and now they've prob done some damage so it was a waste of time even looking. By far this is the Sh!test night I've had in awhile. My first ever ticket too cus I'm a safe driver I like to think.

ok, that's my angry rant. Just needed to vent cus everyone's asleep here at home.

I guess you could consider yourself lucky that it was just a red light, and not a truck coming through, or a drunk crossing the road...

the first question a po-liceman will ask you is if you have any reason for an alleged offence -- surely you can word your civic mindedness into an explanation if you get the infringement notice

well here's to you. The world needs more safe drivers, here's a thought maybe that sexy brumby of yours needs a little more POWER under the hood, so next time you make that set of lights.

Yeah maybe if I had of called the cops I would have had an excuse but i was so angry I just came home. And I just found out if I had stomped the breaks and skidded over the line I wouldn't have gotten a ticket even though id be sideways. Then again if I slid the wrong way I may have ended up in a pole.

But life is full of maybe's and could'as so I guess I'll just have to cop it and be extra careful for a year with 1 point.... and get a car that doesn't slide as much.

Which is right before they get you for negligent driving as well :)

I had a similar experience once-upon-a-time.
Was getting hassled by someone in another car, they even made contact with me at a set of lights where it was clearly intentional so I cruised away at around 60 in a 50 zone. Made a police report then and there, and then get a fine for speeding along that street a few weeks later. Appealed the fine but was told even though it appeared I was telling the truth they could not do anything as it would set a precedent for future infringements.
Doubt you would have a case in your situation particularly considering you didn't make a report, and then they would just say you were being an inattentive driver.

My tip: If you are given the option, order the prints of the infringement. I did for my last one and am really happy with the quality pic of my car. :) Cost $10 extra on top of the fine but I got 3 prints and they were 8x5"s :)
