And as for the board, as Andrew T has said before, get Firefox and spell check your post as you type.

Thats my 2 cents worth.

So you can fit a longer message into the 160 characters. That's the only reason I do it. I'm amazed at the amount of people that don't use the predictive text and painstakingly type in every letter.

Firefox Spellcheck is my friend :)

Aslo, tehre has nveer been any edevince of a stduy form Cairbmdge Uni on tihs ethier.

It is only effective with short words, for example, few are going to figure out that foolinacuccililifinihipicatin is actually floccinaucinihilipilification. Would you not agree?

the problem is more with punctuation, not spelling. It's amazing how much easier a sentence is to read with a comma shoved in every now and then!

Point taken Subydazz, if I have to type in that much info (160+) I would rather phone.
(BTW, Spellcheck is actually checked as "Spell check" with Firefox) ;).

Hey who heard on JJJ this morning on the Breakfast Show about this and more?
They had examples of job applications and assignment papers at uni with abbreviated text and slang, some were from medical students, talk about bad doctors writing - LOL. Most were either failed "F" or in the bin!

I agree with the phone language, I find it much easier to use predictive text then abbreviate, But then I prefer to call anyway..

Something for everyone to think about -
Imagine if 'texting' (Morse Code doesn't count :D) was invented before 'ringing'
Would everyone be running around ringing each other or still texting...

Couldn't agree more Alex, punctuation is a beautiful thing!
