Yeah maybe an "original post date" order system would be good. And if it gets too far down the list and u want to bump it up to the top due to a price drop or something u can edit your original post.

Also maybe we can make it that the original person who made the post would have the power to delete the entire post when they have Sold it or it times out after a month perhaps and automatically deletes itself.

Thanks for your action on this Brett... i didn't expect u to go about changing it soo quickly... i was just after other peoples opinions.

I too never had a problem with the speed of the site... and i love what u have done with the new site. I agree with maybe getting rid of some of the forums that still have had no posts.

Also i love what u have done with the different States having there own section for the outings.

Im not sure what to think about making the For Sale and Wanted section a site on there own.... if it was i doubt there would be a way to link the "Posts since last Visit" to still come up intergrating the main site with the For Sale one.

This l think, is a more realistic idea, there's no point them being there after the item is sold, they only take up space and this alone would go a long way to keeping this section clean.

If we really want to delete the 4sale post after they are sold it is very simple for a moderator to do so , would just require the seller to make sure that they put a post in their 4sale saying that it has been sold .I have noticed over time some of the 4sales do go off topic quite often though :)

Suggestion...

http://www.perth-wrx.com has a good system.

It's just like our old system - just part of the forum BUT, nobody can post replies to the forsale posts.
The only way to communicate to the seller is by PM.

It has the same easy-to-browse feel of our old system but minus the clutter of everybody's questions, stupid comments, and thread hi-jacking problems we all hated.

Just a seggestion anyways, thoughts?

There is a point to their being up after the item is sold. It helps other sellers know what the general price is for an item, & also lets buyers know what the general price for something is if they've got to budget for it.
I think locking or closing a thread after a sale is a good idea. I do this as a mod on another car forum.

Maybe another solution,
It has the same easy-to-browse feel of our old system but minus the clutter of everybody's questions, stupid comments, and thread hi-jacking problems we all hated.
... But some of the questions were good to get answers for all to see. Maybe the "answered questions" could get posted like on ebay, if the owner chooses to.. :?

don't know how easy it would be to organise but would also keep down the clutter.

my 2 cents worth
Chris

'88 Vortex AWD turbo with "go hard" attitude -

WRX EJ20G and box , TD05 Turbo and 4.111 running gear.
5 Stud conversion (Crossbred Performance) Multi pot GT Legacy brakes and 17" rims
Plenty of plans... the plans are getting done slowly;).... getting there - NOT! ;)

I just think it has to be managed. If people postho in there they can be edited.

Maybe we could give the Author moderator options over their thread? I honestly don't know how or if it would work, just a thought.

Just tidying up posts would be easy enough to do by deleting posts in there that arent to do with the sale item , just that some may not appreciate their posts being deleted :), I am refering to general chat that sometimes takes over some of the sale topics.

Totally. Who's to say what's fluff and what isn't though?

Actually there's been precious little moderating to do on the new board . . . might be an opening for us Mike!

Yeah could be hey Muddy,lol
